Has the Cabinet Office complied with Heather Hallett’s request?

I’d lay a bet it won’t be the headline, the headline will probably be the Labour MP allegedly taking prostitutes to the Commons, which is bad, but not quite in the same league.

Taking bets on the DM’s headlines tomorrow.

My bet is something about lefty lawyers

Johnson’s WhatsApps apparently don’t include anything before May 2021, because, according to the Guardian

“he had changed phones after it emerged his number had been listed online, and that he was given security advice to not turn on the old device again. Johnson was thus unable to see the earlier messages, but he was happy to pass the phone to the inquiry if needed”

Integrity and transparency all the way.

A prime example of the government losing its way.

It may not be the truth about their management of covid that’s so inflammatory, assuming that is the reason they want a judicial review. It may expose unprofessional behaviour at a more profound level.

That is what I suspect.

“The Cabinet Office members
Rishi Sunak
Oliver Dowden
Jeremy Quinn
Baroness Neville
Alex Burghat
Johnny Mercer
Penny Mordaunt
Lord True
Early Howe
and the dodgy head of the civil service Simon Case
These people are denying the UK the truth about their management of covid”

👀

“Dear Cabinet Office
Our lives were in your hands.
Whatever you're hiding was a matter of life and death to us.
Some of us were lucky to survive.
Many did not.
We're entitled to know why.
Every little bit of it.
Michael Rosen”

So we have the utter absurdity of the CO suing it’s own enquiry.

Siope Thu 01-Jun-23 19:02:56

Sunak truly is a very poor politician - all his done by this decision is convinced everyone the government has something(s) to hose, whether it’s true or not.

I will admit he was put in a slightly tricky position by the very wide remit given to the Public Enquiry, but he was, presumably, part of the decision making process for that.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 01-Jun-23 19:01:37

Well knock me down with a feather.

Johnson apparently lied when he stated that he’d handed everything over!

I am shocked🙄

BlueBelle Thu 01-Jun-23 18:59:26

Obviously shaking in their shoes

Whitewavemark2 Thu 01-Jun-23 18:57:03

They estabblished the enquiry, appointed Lady Hallett, and are now refusing to comply😄😄😄

Whitewavemark2 Thu 01-Jun-23 18:53:55

The learned opinion is that the government doesn’t stand a cats chance in hell - or words to that effect.

What on earth are they playing at.

What is there that they wish to remain hidden?

Casdon Thu 01-Jun-23 18:05:34

It’s adding fuel to the flames to wait until after the deadline has passed, when the PM could have said much earlier that was the intended action of the government and the rationale. Now everybody thinks there are things that have to be hidden.

ronib Thu 01-Jun-23 17:33:16

Sky news reports now that the government seeks a judicial review.

Apparently Sunak is still considering.

Glad it is about an imminent attack. He is never the most decisive leader is he?

Does he know the meaning of the word 'deadline', I wonder?

What happens now? Does Lady H now, immediately, initiate a judicial process?

I would... grin

Dinahmo Thu 01-Jun-23 16:47:33

Johnson has handed the docs to the Cabinet Office but the latter has missed the deadline - which was 4.00pm.

Casdon Thu 01-Jun-23 16:42:30

Slight diversion, but I just read the BBC article. No decision yet according to them, as you say, Something is going on with Boris’ forehead, he’s either got really nasty bruises or the imprint of his sunglasses, I can’t work it out.

I truly thought that Sunak would bottle it.

Yes it has. Strange that Johnson handed over unredacted items to the Cabinet Office. I suppose he could blame them if redacted items are handed over to the inquiry by the CO.

Oh! I can’t find that information. The BBC are still reporting that it hasn’t been handed over - their news app. Site.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 01-Jun-23 16:11:16

Johnson has said that he has handed all his stuff in. I reckon that he thinks if he is going down he will take Sunak with him if possible.

Whitewavemark2 Thu 01-Jun-23 16:08:28

I believe the deadline has been passed.
