Prince Harry v The Mirror in phone hacking case

When Prince Harry gives evidence in the Mirror phone-hacking trial on Tuesday, he will become the first senior royal to be cross-examined in court since the 19th century. Based on what happened earlier in the trial, it is unlikely the prince will enjoy the experience.

I made the point because I want to the point. In the same you're talking about Harry's court case, have you whether Harry? Does his case affect your life?

I made the point because I want to the point. ???

Why do you assume I'd meet him in front of the media? Did I mention them?

I am his equal! I don't need to try. Anyone who believes in fairness and equality would care I guess.

Yes I made a typing error. I made the point because I want to make the point is what I meant to say.

Oh sorry, you think the media doesn’t follow him everywhere? Really? Fantasy!

Actually, I’ve just remembered what you are like from an earlier time. So . . .

Prince Harry admits his Spare memoir contradicts his evidence at hacking trial as he denies solicitors drafted witness statement for him - and tries to turn questions on lawyer as court hears story 'came from a palace press release'

Anyone who thinks that the press aren’t intrusive to an unimaginable degree are living in some sort of fantasy land. H had been blinded by flashbulbs from his earliest days. He couldn’t “go off and live quietly” if he wanted to. Chelsey’s life was made a misery at uni - the press and photographers were like a pack of baying hounds on the campus, fellow students reported it was absolutely terrible. Diana was made similarly miserable by relentless press intrusion. The whole treatment of the royals as celebrities whose every move must be documented in tittle tattle is appalling and made even more worse with the technology available these days. I have no love for any of the RF - the whole institution belongs in the middle ages - but the criminal behaviour of the press should be challenged and if Harry feels he has to stand up for what he perceives as criminal persecution then good for him.

The relentless press intrusion is what has made me always say that I've never once envied a member of the RF. Life in a goldfish bowl, and an aggressive goldfish bowl at that, must be horrendous.

If anyone, Royal or otherwise, believes that not only have stories about them been relentlessly pursued but also illegally obtained through hacking, then they have every right to pursue the matter in court.

From what I've read, Harry doesn't seem to be helping the cause. Of course, that could be media twisting too..... Or not.

I'm guessing WellsRose that very very few of us are ever going to be eminent scientists or discover a cure for cancer, so what people, (some with titles), in influential positions, do, is to work hard to encourage donations to charities.

WellsRose Wed 07-Jun-23 07:07:06

Mollygo. I'm not really what you are on about. I said I don't want to meet Charles but I wouldnt refer to him as Your Majesty. I was then accused of attention seeking ! I am probably never going to meet the Royal family. I do see they visit people in hospital but I'd ask them not to come to me.

As for your last little comment. It's meaningless because i don't know what you are referring to. Explain.

Well I've been involved in getting money for charities. I've raised thousands over the years. Is that what the Royal family do then?

I think Harry yearns for the days when the press knew their place. Living a public life is difficult but comes with immense privilege. Harry has certainly given the press a lot to write about, based on his own behaviour.

It is not a good thing to sing your own praises don't you know!

DiamondLily Wed 07-Jun-23 07:36:27

I would address King Charles as King, because that is his title, the same as I'd address a priest as Father Whatever.

But, no way would I curtsey to any of them. I'd shake hands, but I honestly don't think they are anything special, or above the rest of us.

They hold their position because of birth or marriage, nothing more.

Its an anonymous forum so I think I can state facts on here.

The Harry trial is a hoot. I hope someone is working on the film!

It’s an anonymous forum so posters can also claim whatever they like as facts, without having to provide evidence.

Next. . .

It's not a competition in my eyes WellsRose. It's everyone who can, giving what they can, not just in money but also in good works. At my DH's school for example, they raise thousands, putting on events, and wealthy parents give of their time and contacts.
The royals add to the profile.

And, the DMail often features photographs of Chelsea Davy going around doing very ordinary things. She hasn’t been in a relationship with Harry in years, clearly doesn’t Court publicity but do they leave her alone - nope

Joseann Wed 07-Jun-23 08:28:50

Interesting Iam64, Chelsey has made it abundantly clear to the press she isn't going to utter a single word and yet, they still photograph her. (Maybe because she is pretty?) My guess is, she was the one who everyone wanted who got away from the berk. Why don't they do the same with William's old flames?

eazybee Wed 07-Jun-23 08:38:49

It is because Harry keeps dragging her name into it; she was mentioned abut 50 (?) times in his deposition: Meghan 5.
Peculiar thing to do to keep harping on about how the press broke up your relationship with a previous girlfriend when you now married.

I would imagine Netflix script writers are already on it.
Don’t forget H&M still have to come up with the goodies, Netflix paid them a wad of money.

DiamondLily Wed 07-Jun-23 08:48:33

It might be annoying (to say the least) when relationships are put under such intrusive behaviour by the press.

Girlfriends of Charles complained, as did Diana, Sarah F, Koo Stark, Kate, and Meghan.

It goes way over the top. Especially if there was also phone hacking.😗

Iam64 Wed 07-Jun-23 08:52:56

eazybee, go straight to blaming Harry of course. Nope it’s been going on relentlessly. She makes no response but they still do it -

eazybee Wed 07-Jun-23 09:02:54

Yes I am blaming Harry because he is exposing her through the courts and blames the press for the break-up, along with everything else that has gone wrong with his life.
