Oxfam who seems to understand minority women, including trans women should not be excluded because their experience of womanhood is different...

Or

Align with those who think gender dysphoria is a mental illness, anyone who supports transition is enabling self mutilation, parents supporting trans children are abusive and men or women are defined by their genitals...

You are missing the point. The fact is that someone high up at Oxfam saw that photo knowing it was JKR and decided it was a good idea to use it to depict an example of an evil person who should be attacked. To a degree it is irrelevant how many of the general public recognised it - but it is irrefutable evidence of Oxfam's mindset

Over 40 yrs ago I was warned to stay away from Oxfam by no less than a priest.
They purport to support the poor in Africa but send containers full of donated clothing to these countries which decimate the local clothing industry.

It may gone but as I posted earlier Glorianny the damage has been done and I wish it were a dead parrot, but there's too much demonising going on of those who correctly say that a man cannot be a woman.

Yep, I'm done. It's Shelter, local charities, or just the Salvation Army (long family history) for me now, other than the Poppy appeal.

Lumos is a fantastic charity and 100% of donations go to protecting children with no administration or publicity costs deducted. Not sure if there are many other charities that can say that. The evil JKR and some others personally cover these costs. What an awful woman she is!

No Galaxy of course the were not. But if you read Witzend's post on page 1 you will realise that they were not the only charity involved. You then have to ask why were they so publicised? Perhaps because they are the ones linking inequality and poverty?

Perhaps if we knew which other charities were involved, and to what extent, we'd be able to make an informed judgement as to why Oxfam got the publicity.

Some one may have already mentioned this but Lumos launched by JKR seems to be doing good work for vulnerable children. If anyone is wanting to change the destination of their direct debit

Glorianny - I certainly didn't "imagine" it was JKR. It was blatantly obvious that was who they meant. The video image had the same hair and was wearing exactly the same very distinctive dress JKR had been photographed in - hardly a coincidence . This was an intentional attack and even if it has now gone, someone at Oxfam thought it was acceptable

Some of us really don't know how JKR does her hair or what dress she was wearing anywhere. So it really only registered with those who know and follow her.

I follow her on Twitter and she mentions it there. If you google Lumos you will get to their website. It does have quite specific aims around ending institualisation of children so not quite as broad brush as some of the larger charities.

There are layers and layers of bureaucracy who have to give the ok to something like this
They think the public is dim enough to accept a not apology.

Water aid Rosie from what I have read they are on the same trajectory.
They kind of have no choice bit to sign up to it.

I think the damage has been done Glorianny. A statement about equality and people's safety is rather hollow now. What about JKR's safety?

I agree Gillycats they've lost the plot and those who need the help and support that donations provide may well suffer as a result.

That only applies if you imagined the cartoon figure was JKR. There will be huge numbers of people who don't know what she looks like, loads more who wouldn't have associated the cartoon figure with her anyway. So perhaps her safety was compromised by those who insisted on making an issue of this. Anyway Oxfam have removed it.

The people who benefit most from maintaining differences and creating inequality and poverty are powerful white men. Which should make everyone think why was Oxfam the charity highlighted in the Haiti Sex Workers scandal? And why is this video being made a target now?

I stopped supporting them after the abuse scandal, it was so deeply unpleasant.

Me too, I stopped my monthly direct debit that had been in place for years and have diverted that to a small local charity in Uganda that is really making a difference in the lives of women and children.

HPQ do you know of any problems with Water Aid, I've had a direct debit with them for years too?
