I’ve just seen this on the news. Eight children stabbed in a park in France. How awful. Is this a terrorist attack do you think, or the attack of a mentally ill person?
Fou translates to Maniac !
I'm watching the news direct as it rolls here in France. I think the children are now out of the operating theatre. The psychologists are saying that an attack on innocent children shows he wanted to exercise power, but he had no previous psychiatric issues.

^Hmm ... I wonder what the parents of the children killed in Dunblane would say.^
What does that comment even mean? What would you expect them to say? I don’t recall anyone rushing to excuse the monster responsible on MH grounds.
It means that I don't remember anybody commenting on the ethnic background of the perpetrator.

I cannot believe the posters that immediately jump to the defence of the perpetrator.
It was a truly evil act by an evil coward.
Whatever his race or creed, he is evil.
Me neither, Sago
It is not racist to say he is a Syrian refugee now with Swedish nationality, it is stating a fact.
Pure evil at work here.
This man had no criminal record or psychiatric history. He has been branded a coward for attacking tiny children.
Surely then if he does have MH problems...someone somewhere should have known to what extent and he shouldn't have been out in the community...
He had the weapon on him so he intended to do something horrific...
Praying that all those children and the two adults survive...
Tickingbird have I said anything to indicate I don’t care about the children? Or the families?

This exactly - well said Sago
If the reports that he was shot in the legs are true, then all I can say is that it's a pity there wasn't a bullet to his head. There will now be goodness knows how much spent on him in his defence - what defence, there is none !!
We used to live near there so were frequent visitors to this lovely, tranquil [under normal circumstances] town. It defies belief that it could happen anywhere to such vulnerable, young toddlers but one would never expect it to occur in such an idyllic setting. But naturally, it can and does happen anywhere.
How awful for those fighting for their lives, whatever age.
We have pic-nicked in this park on several occasions.
Utterly horrendous. It was even the first thing mentioned by the bloke on the checkout at Asda earlier.
Yes, according to the BBC website he had refugee status in Sweden, but because he already had that, was refused the same in France.

Sorry I don't appear to have quoted the correct post!
He was shouting that he was a Christian, and there were no terrorism markers. He had no history of mental illness (according to the BBC).
It's unclear what caused this, as he has a child the same age as those he attacked.

Was that comment called for? It was certainly below the belt
I don't care what colour, religion he has or doesn't have, or about any mental health issues. He committed an evil act on babies and an old man.
It is a fact that if he had remained in Syria those poor victims and their families would be safely getting on with their lives now.
Hmm ... I wonder what the parents of the children killed in Dunblane would say.

Whatever this person race, it dies not excuse this sort if horrendous violence.
Yes he may have MH problems, but this is not a reason to kill, maim or hurt children.
I have MH, but do not use it as a excuse for the way I act. I have to take personnel responsibility for myself. I have a responsibility to get the help I need.
My sympathy goes to the young children.
It's easy to blame appalling acts of violence on MH issues because we find it hard to believe there are truly evil people in the world.

The racism in here is breathtaking since its very very possible is that he had v severe MH problems.
But people are attributing it to his race without any further information as to his state of mind.
White people do this sort of stuff and we don't interrogate whether they were Christians and what about their faith and so on.Try telling that to the parents.

Toddlers stabbed and someone’s only concern is racism. So predictable.
It is simply terrible. But the police are clearly using the word ‘fou’ not terrotiste’.
We should wait for more info. Mad, or one very evil man, yes.
It reminds me of the Dunblane massacre, though that was shooting and people died - but still a crazy person attacking children.

Just why? I don’t understand why. The country that gave him, I assume it was him, refuge.
I think he might have been or about to be refused citizenship and therefore not been given asylum
sorry that update doesn't appear to be correct I've just heard he had refugee status in Sweden..

Oh of course he has, the get out card for all who kill and maim.
Let's wait and see shall we. Perhaps he's just an evil being, who felt like a murderous spree.
