I actually missed Johnson’s resignation, because I was watching the opening of the indictment relating to stollen documents of a top secret nature and Trump.

He is being done on 38 counts and it sounds as if he is bang to rights over this. Still - innocent until proven guilty and all that.

It is pretty shocking and no doubt when our mini-trump is done and dusted our attention will be diverted to the drama in the USA .

All go, isn’t it😄😄😄

I missed everything because I was out with friends last night! What a surprise to come home to...

While Johnson's resignation will cause a lot of noise but no action I wonder if Trump supporters will be quite so passive.

Oh the USA are well used to political scandals - Nixon, Bill Clinton….. 🤢

I hope the Privileges Committee report is published in full. Even though Johnson has resigned to avoid losing he could still be summoned to the Commons to apologise.

Didnt Trump appoint the judge?

It’s possible that Nixon was almost as criminal - he was pardoned in advance of that being tested, so we’ll never know - but this is way beyond a ‘scandal’.

It’s been handled very cleverly, with the indictment not being unsealed until all the heat and froth arising from the first announcement had started, and thus taking the wind out of a lot of sails.

However, there is always the risk that bringing this to trial takes so long that Trump is re-elected beforehand, and the ludicrous tradition of not prosecuting sitting presidents kicks in.

Yes, so the thinking is that she will try to spin the whole thing out until after the election in 2024. If he gets in he can’t be tried!! He’s being done under the espionage act. I mean the whole thing is crazy.

Beware politicising the judiciary!
