The announcement that the present Labour Mayor Jamie Driscoll will not be an acceptable candidate as NE Mayor has shocked the NE. Reasons given for this have ranged from him sharing a platform with Ken Loach, to him not being experienced enough for the post. Many Labour supporters in the NE are angry about this. Is sharing a platform with someone really a good reason? And what will happen to other Mayors.
