What a surprise! It wouldn’t be a good look to keep letting them use their platform, makes sense from their point of view.

That's the thing .... when you hang a garment on a coathanger, the fabric falls beautifully, but when you put it on anyone with the slightest bumps, it clings and looks dumpy.

That's why designers aren't as clever as they'd like us to think - hanging clothes on a tall, skinny model with coathangers shoulders doesn't require the same skill as making well-cut clothes for most normal women.

Calliistemon it is very clever dressing that enables her to appear as well as she does and I genuinely admire her for it. Plus avoiding being photographed standing beside those with more classic model bodies that would emphsise her cleverness.

Catherine is an athlete.

Lathyrus Sun 18-Jun-23 21:10:28

I’d settle for that kind of dumpy too.

But she’ll be my shape in forty years time😬

Callistemon21 Sun 18-Jun-23 20:41:49

Lathyrus

Hips too close to the waist.

Is that what my problem is? I always thought they were just too big.😬

I wish I was as "dumpy" as Meghan!

Catherine is rather on the thin side, which of course, is a desirable shape for models.

If she’s going to be the face of Dior I would have thought that was just advertising their cosmetics and fragrances, not their clothing.

The perfume, I would have thought.
All the companies producing "designer" perfumes choose well-known actresses/celebrities for their adverts; they're constantly on the telly at Christmas ad nauseam.

Private jets and security staff have to be paid for and I nearly collapsed when I saw what H and M paid for a 1st course- I could have dined out weekly for a couple of years with money to spare.

I do not think the RF are out of the woods yet without more revelations from Harry.

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 18-Jun-23 18:45:59

I expect so, Annie. Unfortunately.

Anniebach Sun 18-Jun-23 18:21:57

What will Harry do, write another book

DiamondLily Sun 18-Jun-23 17:09:02

Well, it looks as though her role as an influencer will cover the bills:

Good for them, if it happens.👍

Germanshepherdsmum Sun 18-Jun-23 16:04:26

They look more like Moss Bros.

Joseann Sun 18-Jun-23 15:48:10

Did someone say Dior?
Well I hope the outfits worn are a better fit than Harry's baggy pants by Dior and ill fitting shoulders.

Lathyrus Sun 18-Jun-23 15:32:30

Oh Norah, when I first read your post I thought The Queen? The Queen has died.

Dear me. This is going to take a bit of getting used too😳

She has a very lovely face, beautiful skin and eyes.

I'd also guess cosmetics or fragrance as products she could promote. When carefully fitted and dressed - she projects nicely. However, neither she nor the Queen look well in photos near a tallish stick model.

Queen, having an ample bust, and over 75, must be distraught to be photographed, no matter the red costume of Trooping!

Lathyrus, Having made clothes for myself and having DD make clothes for me as well, the skirt pattern always as to be adjusted because the pattern will say, for example; measurement waist-hip 6 inches, and DD will measure me and it it 2 inches. This shape means that the answer to the question 'Does my bum look big in this?' is always yes. You just need to learn to dress to flatter it

As a result I do not wear gathered skirts, and avoid clothes that tuck in or fit at the waist. In the 1960s, the empire line fashions were a godsend to me. When I wear dresses, they will be with a loose raised waist. My saving grace has always been having long legs.

As with D of S, we are born the shape we are and, as I have found, in many aspects of life, it is better to adjust to what you are than waste time trying to be some thing you can never be.

It could be her PR team working overtime to overshadow the grifters comment.

Lathyrus Sun 18-Jun-23 13:27:29

Or is it all just hype to get others to launch in with offers.

You know a bit like when you go to buy a second hand car and they get a mate to pretend to be interested too.

Smileless2012 Sun 18-Jun-23 13:24:01

Maybe the D of S title is more importanthmm.

I am surprised that Dior, or any dress design house would want to use the Duchess of Sussex as their 'face' (or more accurately their 'body').

Absolutely, nothing to do with who or what she is, but because she emphatically does not have a model shape and I am always in admiration with the way she dresses to hide a really difficult body inheritance. To put it bluntly she is of a naturally dumpy shape, large waist, short legs and hips too close to the waist. See any photos when the Princess of Wales is in the picture, and thankfully for D of S, these are few and far between, and her figure inheritance is obvious.

None of us can alter the shape we are born with, genes will out. I have the same waist/hip problem that she has, fortunately I have long legs, but, under the circumstances I am surprised Dior are signing her up as their 'face'

Lathyrus Sun 18-Jun-23 12:09:07

She does look good in most of her outfits though sometimes the fit isn’t that great on borrowed stuff.

Personally I’ve always found that the French cut for narrow hips and backs and a full bust which is why I can’t buy anything French made.

So Dior will have to do a bit of remodelling for Meghan as an ambassador for their clothes. Still all to the good if I ever wanted to buy Dior!

tickingbird Sun 18-Jun-23 11:57:24

The term ‘grifter’ is much used and it doesn’t necessarily mean someone’s a con artist/swindler. A sharp operator, living on one’s wits. I suppose he said it because they traded on their Royal connection but didn’t have anything else to offer once they’d exhausted that avenue. It is, however, derogatory and for such a senior executive to publicly say this about H & M must be damaging for their image.

Meghan may possibly become the face of Dior. She does look good and wears her outfits well. We shall see.

M0nica Sun 18-Jun-23 11:34:29

If the Sussexes were paid on results, they will not be getting much.
