Spotify dumps deal with Harry and Meghan

What a surprise! It wouldn’t be a good look to keep letting them use their platform, makes sense from their point of view.

I am amazed that so many big media companies went so mad over them and signed all these multi-million dollar deals with them so fast.

These companies are usually pretty tough cookies and unaffected by media and hype, and it was always pretty clear that what H&M had to offer was very limited, spilling dirt on Prince Harry's family and little else.

Neither do either of them have any outstanding talent that would blossom given a chance. M was given her chance with her Spotify interviews, but they seem to have been pretty dull and unoriginal, talking to successful women about themselves (and her). No one much listened to them and Spotify have pulled the rug from them because it was clear that they cost more to produce than they pulled in in revenue.

They will have to do what scions of other royal families have done when they decided to leave their family firms. Buy a modest detached house in a city suburb somewhere and either live off what they have earned so far, - and that should not be too difficult) or get jobs. He could make a good figurehead/advisor for a security company and she could start auditioning for parts again.

I hope he does build some bridges because it is so sad for his young family that they are becoming estranged from their uncle, granddad and cousins. I’m beginning to actually feel sorry for the silly so and so ( not for dear Meags, though. I draw the line at that.)

I’ve tried to think of him as a silly so and so but I can’t get past his spiteful and vindictive treatment of his family especially the Queen in her final months. I can’t forgive him for that.

As for Meghan…She has trampled over and cast aside so many people in her climb to the top I sincerely hope she bumps into them on her way down, especially Jessica Mulroney. I wonder how her twin sons feel when they look back on their big day and all the excitement that went with it?

Harry’s New World is a shallow one and it won’t take long to reach the bottom.

nanna8 Fri 16-Jun-23 13:32:04

How did they cope ? Just third world, sweetie.

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Jun-23 13:21:30

I agree, I would have expected each bedroom to be an en suite.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 16-Jun-23 12:36:47

Only six bathrooms to serve ten bedrooms? A veritable slum.

Charleygirl5 Fri 16-Jun-23 12:11:25

merlotgran I do not think so because it only has 6 bathrooms I believe.

Where would I house the staff? Are there staff quarters?

Ooh, the Queen’s funeral, the coronation, the court cases, no armed police protection allowed - lots of opportunities for him. He doesn’t have to stick to facts you know!

I can’t see it as it’s just the same old, same old and they know the public are tired of it now. I believe that’s why they (or their mouthpiece) announced they wouldn’t be doing anymore documentaries etc - they know it’s old hat.

Things might be getting tricky for them now. Harry might have to start building bridges with his family for when/if he’s no longer of any use to his wife.

merlotgran Fri 16-Jun-23 10:53:14

Anybody want to buy a ten bedroom mansion in Montecito? 😂

NanaDana Fri 16-Jun-23 10:51:19

The Spotify deal was worth some $20m to H&M. The Wall Street Journal is reporting that the couple may well be required to return part of the payment sum, as they haven’t “met the productivity benchmarks required to receive the full pay-out from the deal.” Doesn't sound like a mutual agreement to me. Sounds more like they were sacked. I guess we shouldn't be surprised at their "official" version, as let's face it, the unbridled truth isn't exactly front and centre in M&H world.

eazybee Fri 16-Jun-23 10:38:57

Well, really, what have they got to offer?
The original wave of interest in a fairy tale marriage was followed by one-sided insights into the royal family followed by spiteful invective and the airing of a long-held collection of grudges. These can only sustain interest for so long, and neither H nor M have achieved anything of merit to reawaken interest in their lives.

merlotgran Fri 16-Jun-23 10:38:40

It doesn’t matter how it’s worded, where one goes others will follow.

Omid Scobie must be wondering if he should dust off his CV.

MerylStreep Fri 16-Jun-23 10:25:12

I’m filling up here 😢

nanna8 Fri 16-Jun-23 10:19:21

They tend to use words like ‘dumped’ here- you know, say it as it is sort of stuff ! Makes people take notice I suppose.

Glorianny Fri 16-Jun-23 09:54:49

Spotify seem to be reorganising. It's more concerning that they are making 200 people redundant. They'll be suffering.

Does that mean that Spare part 2 will have to be written to make up the odd £18 million they will have lost?

😂😂

NotSpaghetti Fri 16-Jun-23 09:42:36

The media (BBC) reported this today as a "mutually agreed" decision.
Not a "dumping".

As far as I'm concerned it doesn't matter if she is on Spotify or not.
There is a lot of stuff on Spotify - I can't see the problem with having it there, good or bad (or mediocre).

Excellent news. It can only hasten the publication of the next —dose of vitriol— book.

Doubtful. What’s left to say? Harry’s been kept away from the RF for a good reason. No private conversations to divulge, no inner sanctum goings on to expose.

He'll make up a few I expect, just as before.

I guess it wasn’t very interesting.

Was that the one where she interviewed guests?

Perhaps it was difficult to get high profile names to sign up for interview.

Nanatoone Fri 16-Jun-23 09:22:34

She has the most patronising of voices on her podcasts. She’s not one of “us” (I mean ordinary person, not a particular nationality) and never will be.

Smileless2012 Fri 16-Jun-23 09:06:49

Perhaps Meghan's pod cast wasn't as well received as was hoped.
