Video emerges of Tory Party HQ Party during lockdown

A video has emerged showing some Conservative Party workers drinking and dancing at a Christmas party in December 2020 during the Covid pandemic. At the time, Tier 2 restrictions were in place, which meant that people were banned from socialising indoors, except with members of their household or a support bubble. Socialising at that stage of the pandemic was limited to up to six people in a garden or at a pub with outdoor seating. As the drinking and dancing goes on, one of the partygoers is actually heard saying it is OK to film "as long as we don't stream that we're, like, bending the rules". Clearly they knew exactly what they were doing, and this "do as I say, not as I do" hypocrisy is at the core of the Johnson- inspired culture of entitlement and elitism which has consistently treated the public with such contempt. The Police investigated the incident in November 2022, but no charges were brought. The Conservative party "disciplined" four of the attendees. Surely this now needs reviewing in the light of this new, damning evidence?

My heart breaks for those who lost loved ones who they hadn't been allowed to hug , to not be allowed to sit with each other , for the loneliness endured by so many who's family were not allowed to visit . The trust we put into the government to help us , as we wondered, " can this be real " as the whole country shut down.
The long quiet empty days hoping we would be safe , our loved ones scared to visit .

This is so very very wrong

How dare they. What disgusting people they are.

Which just about sums up the whole Tory party
Sounds about right for her. She is a vile, foul mouthed old crone.

Couldn’t agree more. She’s disgusting.

Why were those people not working from home when, as Johnson said, in defense of "essential" leaving parties, the building was not suitable for applying social distancing rules? Mask wearing doesn't seem to have come into it. Now we know why Johnson couldn't sack DC at the time for his blatant rule breaking as the then PM had no intention to follow those rules himself. Call me churlish for feeling angry about this but it was disgraceful behaviour and should be acknowledged as such.

How will this video alter things? Like others, I feel very affected by it, but what will change?

It has been noticeable that, although the rule breakers continue to try and undermine strictures on proper behavior, the rules are beginning to take a hold. I wonder if this will go further or if changes will be made. Perhaps that will have to be under another government.

I am so angry and upset at what they have done, not just this and how they have been allowed to get away with it all,it’s absolutely shocking…
Thanks to this by shower this country is not on its knees, its face planted…
I think of the young men that gave their lives in the two world wars, and what they would think of what has happened to their once great country..😢

Just shows that disdain and disrespect that Johnson and his gang have for everyone else doesn't it? They couldn't give a shit for those who were fighting for their lives in hospital or for those in nursing homes who were barred from being with their families. No better than vermin.

Wyllow3 Sun 18-Jun-23 09:05:00

I can still find it really shocking as more and more tumbles out.

Anniebach Sun 18-Jun-23 09:04:52

Michael Gove has declared ‘they were completely out of order’

Disgraceful. One law for the Tories. Total disregard of common decency.

DaisyAnneReturns Sun 18-Jun-23 08:51:20

I wonder if there is anything that can be done re the Johnson Peers? As new information is being released each day what would happen if Johnson were eventually to receive a prison sentence, for example?

Around that time I 'attended' an online funeral service - how sad to think of such a thing now. The handful of mourners who attended in person didn't even have a proper funeral tea sad

That video really is sickening to watch.

I have only one word

DISGUSTING

Greta Sun 18-Jun-23 08:32:13

They should all hang their heads in shame. And the police knew but took no action! Is this true? The majority of people in this country are decent and law abiding. They deserve much better than this.

I knew what they thought of us when Neil Ferguson ( who predicted the deaths) invited his married lover to come to his home for some afternoon rumpy pumpy.

Urmstongran Sun 18-Jun-23 08:22:00

Absolutely sickened me.

What frightens me is how those in power scared the pants off us all with masks & distancing, taping up swings and park benches, yet happily partied away themselves. Did the elite know something about Covid that we didn’t??

Grannynannywanny Sun 18-Jun-23 08:21:54

I shouldn’t be surprised by anything they dig up on this shower. But this has reduced me to tears this morning as my mind is cast back to Christmas morning 2020. I visited a very much loved family member with a severe learning disability. Only window visits were allowed in his nursing home at that time. I stood outside the window and a nurse wheeled him to the conservatory window to wave to me while I stood outside in the freezing cold. He outstretched his arms to me and asked for a hug and he had no understanding of why I was standing outside and not allowed in.

I had to deliver all his Christmas gifts days before so they could be quarantined before being handled. A very kind nurse sent me a video clip from her phone of him opening his presents. Scenes like that were going on all over the country with folk doing their best to abide by the rules while the b*s who made them were partying.

J52 Sun 18-Jun-23 08:18:56

It shows their contempt for the general population. I wonder what else will come out?
Those involved should be stripped of any ‘honours’. It is beyond disgusting.

Blondiescot Sun 18-Jun-23 08:00:54

It just shows the absolute disregard they had (still have) for the rest of us. They thought they were above the rules and could do what they wanted, while all across the country, people were losing their loved ones and unable even to say a proper goodbye to them.

Galaxy Sun 18-Jun-23 07:58:35

I know this isnt the point but it looked like the worst party in the history of the world.

Oreo Sun 18-Jun-23 07:49:51

I agree Lumiere shocking isn’t it? Breathtaking arrogance by all concerned.angry

Lumiere Sun 18-Jun-23 07:39:57

Yes I've seen this.
Absolutely appalling and yet unsurprising.
It really is one rule for them and another for the rest of us isn't it?
They need to go and fast.

MaizieD Sun 18-Jun-23 07:37:03

Of course, Shaun Bailey, whomis in the still photo Fannyc has posted, but who left before the video was taken, has been given a life peerage in Johnson's dishonours list and I understand that two other participants, who are in the video, have also been given 'honours' by Johnson.

Bailey was London's police commissioner at the time, wasn't he?
