Is he a bot or merely incapable of thinking for himself?

Whenever interviewed or answering questions live, the Prime Minister ‘rinses and repeats’ ie repeats one sound bite. The interviewer can ask four different questions and the PM seems only able to repeat one answer - the topic he is pushing that day! So is he a ‘bot’ ie merely a parrot of his team’s latest thoughts or is he merely incapable of thinking for himself?

He has no concept of how real people live and neither does he appear to have any real empathy
The sooner his party is out the better nobody can wreck this country any more than the conservatives already have, we are on our knees so it couldn’t get any worse
People are dying due to the lack of nhs beds, Go appointments and lack of ambulances can it really get any worse if any other party runs the country.

Do you think he’s totally ignorant just because he’s rich? Yes, you do. Do you know him? If you don’t your opinion is somewhat worthless,

Give him a chance! I have faith that he’s a sincere man who wants to make a difference.

If he wanted to make a difference he wouldn't be endorsing the BoE tipping the country into recession.

We have had this brand of economic thought for the last 13 years and the country is suffering badly for it with run down services and people getting more and more desperate as they are tipped over into poverty.

Once the tories have been booted out next year I'll be surprised if they get back into power for at least a decade...

There are more intelligent ways to manage an economy.

Where is the lack of integrity?

Johnson’s Honours is one example.

He and his interview responses are becoming increasingly robotic. He consistently uses the same old political phrases and responses instead of living up to his much publicised pledge of integrity.

Germanshepherdsmum - I cannot be sure that the PM lacks the kind of vision I described - but nor have I seen any evidence of his having such a vision. I hope he has.

Agreed Baggs. He obviously keeps up with fashion and is expensively dressed but always smart and presentable, unlike his predecessor. He’s not paid to wear clothes that people on GN like, he’s paid to be PM. Commenting on his choice of clothes is petty and irrelevant.

If you want to be taken seriously as a leader than you need to look like one.

Iwtwab12bow Mon 26-Jun-23 15:39:15

I did see some graffiti that said " Boris Johnson combs his hair with a balloon " just a thought.

Iwtwab12bow Mon 26-Jun-23 15:37:15

*I cannot take seriously a middle aged man who dresses like a schoolboy whose mother refuses to buy him a new school uniform although he has grown out of the old one*

Maybe someone needs to send him to the same publicity company that "made over" Margaret Thatcher. They taught her how to speak up without screeching and how to power dress.

It is silly (and also something about which women are always complaining when their appearance and choice of clothes is mentioned!) to focus on appearance like this. The fashion, apparently, is for shorter length trousers.

The PM does not look unsmart or unsuitably dressed for his job.

Whether he is or will be remember as a 'good' PM is the important issue and that will not depend on what length of trousers he wore while in office. I'm sure his tailors are right up to the mark.

Germanshepherdsmum - the 'right kind of money man' is surely someone who knows that we need a healthy economy to flourish but has a wider vision than that - a vision about welfare, health, education, the environment, care and compassion.

And how do you know, after such a short time, that Sunak is lacking in any of this?

I think he’s a caretaker PM. I’m not impressed by him at all.

MaizieD I read the link supplied on a post showing Switzerland Liechtenstein and Russia as having the lowest rates of inflation!

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 26-Jun-23 13:49:39

So what is ‘the right kind of money man’ Applegran?

Energy prices paid by the energy companies a re decreasing.

Whether they pass this on to consumers is a different matter. However, they have made massive profits over the past year...

Take your pick of articles about this:

MaizieD I see you have not referred to my point about Russia’s low inflation rates.
I share your disgust at the attitude of Uk government and energy profits but a windfall tax is possible in time.

where do you get your information from ronib?

MaizieD Mon 26-Jun-23 13:46:07

With a get out clause, GG13. Which I'm sure they will exploit to the full.

I doubt if he is 'the right kind of money man' - it's just that he understands aspects of money and feels on safe territory there. As a national leader, surely he needs to see money management in the wider context of a great vision for the country.

I read that the energy companies have an agreement to invest a proportion of their profits in renewable energy research and development programmes.

If this is so, it’s much needed, as the planet will not survive the continued use of fossil fuels.

The Energy Profits Levy was introduced in 2022, which is a windfall tax by a different name.
