Nadine Dorries, Jacob Rees-Mogg and Priti Patel have all been slammed for their criticism of the Privileges Committee report on Boris Johnson, but do we honestly believe that any of them either feel any shame or are likely to apologise? Harriet Harman added: “But what needs to be addressed is the campaign waged outside Parliament by some Members of the House of Commons and the House of Lords to undermine the Committee." This campaign of criticism involved the use of newspapers, radio and social media, and two of the most vociferous even used the platform of their own TV shows. The special report produced by the Committee describing this inappropriate intervention states that it is now for the Commons to decide what further action needs to be taken against all those named today. Given that spineless Sunak even failed to take part in the vote backing the report on Johnson’s disgraceful conduct, the Committee also said if the Government does not table a motion to debate this, then any MP could write to the Speaker asking for this to happen. Do we think this is likely, and even if it is debated, will any action be taken against the Johnson acolytes? I'm not holding my breath...
