Mostly not standing again; some leaving in a huff. I can't think but that it will mean parliment will be very sluggish.

What if it continues? As someone with no MP at the moment I don't think they can hold back on by elections. If there where a sudden swath who decided to go, perhaps of those who have never been in opposition, it would surely force a General Election, not necessarily at a time of Sunak's choosing.

So having made a complete pigs ear of running the country for the past thirteen years, they're throwing their toys out of the pram? Pathetic!

Maybe they realise that they will not be re-elected and are lining up their new jobs.

After all they have mortgages and families to support, not all are the product of a parental trust fund.

Predictable..

gg13 yes that is what is being suggested along with trying to get ahead of other Tory MPs likely to leave/lose their seats, and get what few jobs are open to them. Apparently businesses are largely not interested in the skills sets that MPs have to offer.

I guess it depends on whether they had any skills other than working in politics before they became an MP.

But that means they will only stand if they can be sure they will win. I understand the income side of it but it does tend to make you think Tory MPs only want to win and have no real principles when it comes to running the country.

That's how we get lumbered with the Johnson's of this world.

Just in case you’d wondered why there wasn’t much traffic - it is an interesting subject.

Or maybe the ones leaving are the MP’s with principles and have had enough?

Yes from what I heard today, the abuse, sometimes death threats, are causing some to say they won't stand.
The cowardly key board warriors.

I missed the other one I'm afraid. It's probably better to just post there.
