As usual I think there is more to this story than meets the eye. We will never know the true facts but I am sure the bank in question did not close the accounts without good reason, especially someone as wealthy as Farage.

So you didn't hear about underpants Bryant, cowardly, under Parliamentary privilege, accusing Farage of taking money from the Russians. He wouldn't repeat it outside of course, as he would have been sued. All of you chuckling about this, innuendos, unproven, it could happen to you, and is an affront to our personal freedoms of our political beliefs.
Believe China is big on this, shutting accounts to stifle political beliefs. No they should not be able to do this, without proof of any misdemeanor. Yorkshire Bank did this to me, computer glitch they said, and for 1 month was unable to pay bills etc. The pifling amount they gave me as compensation, hardly covered my rent, and it took me a long me to get rid of the debt caused by this. Really not funny. Black Belt Barrister, on you tube, has a lot to say about this appalling situation .

Banks have a legal duty to monitor bank accounts.

We only have a very dodgy spiv type’s word for it and frankly I don’t believe a word he says.

Maybe the bank was concerned about the origin of the money which had been paid into Farage’s accounts. They would have more insight into that than we do, and they have anti-money laundering duties.
Can you post a link about the vicar?

I could hardly believe the news that a bank closed all the accounts of Nigel Farage. Although no reason was given, evidently a Labour MP, Chris Bryant, used parliamentary privilege to accuse Mr Farage of taking £546,000 from Russia Today for media appearances. Mr Bryant was challenged to repeat the accusation outside Parliament but he refused Mr Farage denied the allegations but Mr Bryant refused to repeat his accusations in public because Farage would sue him.
A Vicar in Yorkshire had his Yorkshire Building Society account. Closed because he thought the BS had too many Pride flags being flown.
No mention so far on GRANSNET so I thought it should be discussed. I am sure Grans must have an opinion. You may not like Mr Farage, but should banks have the right to close your account without proper explanation because they do not like your political opinion or they do not support free speech?
