That's the one!!

PamelaJ1 Sun 09-Jul-23 13:00:21

🤦🏼‍♀️ luckygirl you mean this one?

NotSpaghetti Sat 08-Jul-23 22:41:38

Apologies- you know this!

NotSpaghetti Sat 08-Jul-23 22:40:37

MaizieD there is a whole section about advertising food products on TfL.
Your daughter might be interested.

NotSpaghetti Sat 08-Jul-23 22:38:15

Has anyone else read the TfL policies for printed materials?

Re this poster it falls into an image category that is inadvertently promoting something high in fats sugars etc . There is lots of info about the type of advertising materials accepted. I don't know why the team didn't read them!

It is for the advertiser to demonstrate (in case of any doubt) that any product is not HFSS, and/or that an advertisement is not promoting HFSS products, and/or that there are exceptional grounds.

They have a whole set of guidelines about this (including inadvertently promoting) and also an appeals form.
Did they even appeal?
Who knows.

If I can find it all easily enough - presumably someone in advertising and marketing can!
Surely nobody would take on a design contract without wanting to see the Ts&Cs?

Luckygirl3 Sat 08-Jul-23 22:11:17

Where is the "head in hands" icon when you need it?

Mollygo Sat 08-Jul-23 21:46:20

Actually, for once, I wouldn’t blame the government any government.
The litter on the pavements isn’t down to the fast food shops, although refuse from them is what we often see.
It’s down to the dirty people who can’t be bothered to find a bin to put their rubbish in, or if the bins are full, to take it home with them.
I can and will argue that our local council don’t empty the bins on the seafront or the town centre often enough, but the litter on the pavement isn’t down to them. It’s down to the people who drop it.

I was in London last week and appalled at the amount of litter on the streets. They need to get their priorities right and spend money on cleaning the streets. Most of which was from junk food wrappings and soft drinks bottles and cans.

HowVeryDareYou2 Sat 08-Jul-23 16:07:27

The team spent £20,000 on the posters to go on London's transport network What a waste of money. Madness.

MaizieD Sat 08-Jul-23 15:27:01

Baggs

It says in the blurb that it's a three tier sponge cake. I'm SHOCKED. When did wedding cake stop being a rich fruit cake pieces of which that one wrapped into small parcels to send to people who weren't at the wedding?

Sponge cake!? The murder of a lovely tradition.

Humph! I say wink

You get a soggy parcel of sponge cake now, Baggs

MaizieD Sat 08-Jul-23 15:25:38

I had a word with my DD about this; she's an academic and obesity is her area of interest.

She said that TfL (and maybe other transport companies) has a ban on the advertising of goods which could cause obesity. She thinks that banning this poster is really a bit stupid, but it might be to forestall other companies complaining that they are not allowed to advertise their --obesity causing--products with TfL. Though this wouldn't be particularly logical as the banned poster isn't 'selling' wedding cake, it's the advert for a play, isn't it?

PamelaJ1 Sat 08-Jul-23 15:20:46

Just decided that we will go. I hadn’t heard of it till now so thanks for that. Hope the publicity boots their numbers
A friend went to an ‘eating’ play the other week, something to do with an aeroplane. She said it was fantastic.

Grannmarie Sat 08-Jul-23 13:51:37

My sisters and I went to Tony and Tina's wedding many years ago when we were holidaying in Las Vegas. It was a great night's entertainment, where the audience are treated as wedding guests and join in the meal and dancing at the 'reception ', chatting to the actors in role...
A new experience for us, I'd recommend it for a light hearted evening out.
Yes, there was cake! 🎂

GrannyGravy13 Sat 08-Jul-23 13:51:32

Absolutely flipping ridiculous.

Chocolatelovinggran Sat 08-Jul-23 13:01:34

TBH however, it does confirm what I've been telling people for years - if I just look at cake, I get fatter etc etc.

Lollin Sat 08-Jul-23 12:41:41

lixy I thought we needed a topic to laugh about .

Yes hopefully it’s helped with their viewing/attendance figures. Too far away for me. All that money on advertising and marketing, I dread to think of the cost for advertising on tv channels!

Spinnaker Sat 08-Jul-23 11:44:06

Typical nanny state thinking hmm

Smileless2012 Sat 08-Jul-23 11:11:35

Have they got nothing better to do?

Mollygo Sat 08-Jul-23 11:10:23

By that standard, how on earth will any of the fast food chains ever get an advert accepted again?

Callistemon21 Sat 08-Jul-23 11:08:59

Sounds delicious very bad for you !!

Link struck through because it contains starchy potatoes, olive oil, salt and other undesirable substances.

Callistemon21 Sat 08-Jul-23 10:17:41

Dinahmo

TFL trying to make us watch out diets. At least it's given publicity to the production.

Yes, they've probably got far more publicity from the ban than they would have done from the posters.

🎂🍰🧁🍩🍪🥮🍥🍣

It's absolutely bonkers...
