Hollywood actors strike

A lot of supporting people will lose their jobs, including hundreds of Australians. I tend to think actors and actresses in Hollywood are way overpaid to start with but maybe I am wrong. I am sure they get a lot more pay than Doctors and nurses for a start.

Just listened to the lady who is president of the screen actors guild who explained that due to the advancement of AI an extra will now be expected to do one days work for one days pay. The production company will then be able to use that image and create an AI duplicate to use as and when it wants/needs and the actor will get no recompense.

So basically the strike is more to do with securing their jobs as opposed to their salary’s.

Extras in films/TV get paid very little in the US, it’s the big box office stars that command the million $ pay checks.

They also need to earn a certain amount before they can qualify for health cover apparently. Which of course Extras struggle to earn that much. It does seem unfair.
