Sadly we, our children and grandchildren have not been to either. .
I am sure it’s a lovely experience but way over budget .
Good Morning Thursday 7th May 2026
Heard on news that the PM is not at home in connection with the black veiling on his home in Yorkshire ..surely this should not have been broadcasted or am i being over dramatic...

We’ve always known when the PM is on holiday, and where they’ve gone. Margaret Thatcher holidayed in Britain usually, she did walking holidays. Blair holidayed in Italy usually, in villas, borrowed from other people. Theresa May holidayed in Europe, often Switzerland, again walking holidays. Cameron holidayed in Cornwall. Boris Johnson holidayed in Scotland, and the Caribbean, I think he borrowed someone’s villa in the Caribbean. How would I know all this if it wasn’t reported? I’m sure the holidays of other PMs I’ve not mentioned here were in the news too, I just don’t remember them all.

No, I have it on in the morning. Sunak did a fairly long interview with Nick Ferrari.
As well as telling us his holiday plans, he fell out with a doctor by telling him that the waiting lists were caused by the strikes.
He said that we all need to dig deep (financially) and trust him to sort out the mess this country was in.
It didn't give him much credibility, to be honest.🙄
Haha, neither do I.
Rather surprised that there was no sign of anyone there? Is that his main home in Yorkshire? I always thought it was massive.
We were told he was heading off on his hols a couple of days ago so no problem there.
I do think it's a bit mean though. Whatever you think of the man he has 2 little girls who will probably be scared at the thought of men scaling their home
He rarely seems to be there, so not sure if it's an investment property, just bought as a "home" in his constituency?
That way, he can claim for two homes.
I don't know, but he seems to just bat about between Downing Street and Chequers, which might explain why there was no security there.

Jetted off to California - another unnecessary trip by air.
Do you go on an unnecessary flight , for your holiday. My friend , who is not rich ,has just gone on one of these flights, for her family break. Honestly.
Always thought you shouldn't generally publicise when you are going away on holiday...target for break-ins etc and yes, I know some people have top notch security systems, but, it has been reported that some well known celebrities have had their homes broken into...

Looks pretty big to me.
It is described as a Georgian mansion set in 12 acres and has a swimming pool.It is one of four properties owned by the P.M. and his wife.

Actually it's two women on the roof. Would that make a difference-perhaps give his daughters aspirations???

There are four people on the roof in Foxyglove's photo. Are two of them men, and does that make a difference?
It's two men and two women. The link I posted earlier with the message doesn't seem to be working now (funny that). So here it is again. It is worth listening to news.sky.com/video/greenpeace-protester-records-message-from-the-top-of-rishi-sunaks-house-in-north-yorkshire-12933040
Well, the protestors have been bailed, and there's to be a major review of security. Which is right, because although Greenpeace are harmless, not every group is.

I am glad there is to be a review. Whichever party were in power that's not something I want happening.
Nor me. We have a tradition of protecting certain MPs, ex PMs etc and it's there for a reason.
I think some of these groups are harming their own causes. A lot of people agree with the cause, but are getting increasingly frustrated/angry/bored with some of their tactics.
Freya5 no holidays for us.
No one was hurt, no one was threatened.
One house (he has 4-not counting "official residences") was climbed by people and wrapped in black cloth.
Sunak could if he wanted employ private security to look after his properties. He evidently doesn't want to pay for it.
No objection to him being properly protected, and his official residences, but I would certainly object to paying for security for any of his other properties. He can afford to pay himself.

If anyone regardless of wealth is elected to represent and make laws for the state than that state has a duty to protect them, their family and their property.
It was wrong to trespass on the property , it is not acceptable to dismiss it as ‘no one was hurt’.

I thought ex-PMs and Home Secretary's kept protection for life, in all public and private events, and their homes.
On that basis, his home should have had at least a police officer outside it.
How many properties does one person expect to have protected by us beleaguered taxpayers.
He is super wealthy and could and certainly should fund this himself, as any other politician of any hue should, just as we ordinary mortals have to.
As for trespass it might not be right but my understanding is p it’s not a crime.

I agree with this. The family should be protected, wherever they are, and one residence (maybe one plus Downing Street), but if someone chooses to have several 'homes' they should protect them themselves.
Surely climbing on the roof of someone’s house should be a crime

You would have thought so Anniebach
I hope if they have caused any damage they will be made to pay for it.
I agree. I think breaking the law should be dealt with, but by the police, not a security firm paid for by the state.
