I don't think it's about blame. But, obviously, if you have 100 people waiting at A&E, the room will get cleared quicker than if there are 200 waiting.

It's about numbers and N`hS competence/capabilities.

Why don't they blame the government for underfunding the health service and education budgets being slashed? staff leaving in droves? Is that the fault of migrants?

Why do people blame migrants for a failure to see a GP or be seen at A and E? How many of the NHS staff are migrants compared with how many patients? ( most patients are over 65 of course)

It doesn't matter how many times certain issues are explained

People will only hear what they want to hear so they can keep their prejudice and opinions intact

The world would be in a terrible way if everyone placed more importance on being "right" over facts and no one was capable of personal growth

Children learn English very quickly

Some of them will be doctors and teachers

Whilst the children are learning English presumably they require a translator and the rest of the class are held up?
Some may be doctors and teachers but they can’t work as such until they have obtained further qualifications here.

Yes, it is a puzzle. The countries these young men say they are fleeing from, often treat women and children even more harshly.

I wonder why they would leave their wives and children behind.

It's not always a given that their relatives can join them afterwards.

But, something has got to give here - there just aren't enough homes for everyone, we don't build enough, and people cannot live in hotels/tents/barges forever.

A homeless charity worker was on the radio this morning, not talking about refugees, just about homelessness.

On Oxford Street last night, they counted over 400 hundred people sleeping in doorways etc. That's one road in London.

We have so many homeless, and this is adding to the chaos.

I thought that, during the pandemic, the government said they were going to do something to help the growing number of homeless people in this country. Or was that another Johnson empty promise?

Hmmm. Well, I'd be shocked and horrified if Johnson has made a phoney promise....🙄

This has been explained on numerous occasions. They embark on a long, arduous dangerous journey. A family will pay to send the one most capable of coping with that. If our country was suddenly at war who would you send to another country in the hope that they can help the family? Would you send women and children? Or a young, fit man.

A Labour government brought in a cap for the number of children in each class; this was abandoned as being impractical about eighteen months later. Since then efforts have been made to limit class numbers. A school in the London borough in which I worked some years ago was featured in a documentary; in an effort to cope there were portakabin classrooms covering large areas of the playground, and nineteen different languages were spoken in the school. I cannot imagine life has become any easier for that borough in the last ten years.

You’re only talking about hotel accommodation VS. Are you happy with overcrowded classrooms including children who don’t speak English and increased difficulty in getting a medical appointment or being seen reasonably promptly in A&E?

This is what CNN are now reporting.

I don’t think anybody does think that DiamondLily, it’s just that some of think not processing all migrants in a timely way is compounding the issues. If the system was effective economic migrants wouldn’t come here because they would be screened out in France at the assessment centres.

I sometimes think that the anti migrant stance that people like Braverman, Patel et al take is somehow seen to be acceptable because they are second/third generation migrants. As if it can’t be seen to be racist because you can’t be racist against your own race. It’s something I can’t get my head around and they never seem to be questioned about it.

You are not being fair to the French. They have repeatedly offered refugees homes and jobs in rural France, but this does not suit the refugees who all insist they want to get to Britain and leave France illegally.

They were presumably off-loaded in England because they either were rescued in British territorial waters, or because weather conditions made it too dangerous to sail them back to France.

Trouble is there aren’t any legal rotes for many. However, this government have stirred up the small boats issue when , in fact, most asylum seekers don’t arrive on small boats. Far more come on regular plane flights , maybe as visitors or students or to stay with relatives. It’s those from the most chaotic countries such as Afghanistan and Syria who are more likely to have to arrive on the boats as they have no documents and have to flee their homes. The tories don’t highlight this fact.

Ok, you cling to your prejudice if it makes you feel better, although given the state of the NHS under your Tory administration, even a handful of surgeons are welcome as far as I am concerned.
