Explained well by my good friend here

''Now that this government are trying, once again, to remove the UK from the ECHR it is time to remind ourselves as to why they are so anxious about it. Could it be that they think that they are likely to lose the case being brought against them in the ECHR by three very brave cross-party MPs? I think the answer is yes, they are very worried and we should all lend our support as far as we can to the brave MPs, Ben Bradshaw, Caroline Lucas and Alyn Smith. as we owe them a great deal. If you can spread the word about the case that would be great as the press and media are trying to withhold any information I suspect.''

Rather old news, Fp?

Have you heard anything on the progress of the claim?

Certainly a contributory factor to the government's wish to detach from the ECHR. It's been curiously unwilling to face the question of Russian involvement in our politics for quite a number of years now.

They are not. It’s a group of right wing Tories and non-MPs, pushing the same lies they used to push Brexit.

I’m reluctant to even talk about it, because conversation ;written included) that normalises the extremists, and potentially desensitises people to just how risky this is.

Very much worth repeating. And no, no news on progress.

The fact that ECHR has "European" in its title is enough to give ammunition to the right-wing press to demonise it.

The European Court of Human Rights is nothing to do with the EU but I know of someone who voted Leave because she thought that the EU were keeping terrorists in the UK thanks to the ECHR.

Yes, something I hear and read again and again from those who voted leave- irrespective on how many times it has been explained to them.
