How sad ! I believe they were driving on their farm and accidentally drove into a body of water and drowned 🥲

Joseann Mon 21-Aug-23 19:22:15

I understand what is being said about the parents, but the narrow escape from death by the younger fit and healthy carer who had to crawl through the back window makes me shiver. A near tragedy for her.

It might sound harsh but, in a way, I think If one of us had dementia and the other Parkinson's disease, and we were finding life difficult after more than sixty years of marriage, I actually might want that kind of end to our lives together.

Dottydots Mon 21-Aug-23 11:21:55

That's so sad. We just don't know what's around the corner for any of us.

BlueBelle Mon 21-Aug-23 10:43:00

Indeed smileless and it may not be tragic

Smileless2012 Mon 21-Aug-23 09:17:22

I hope that there can be some comfort for their family BlueBelle that they went together and had said that was what they wanted.

BlueBelle Mon 21-Aug-23 09:13:49

As they were both ill in old age and only a few days before expressed that they d like to go together perhaps this is what they wanted
Don’t shoot me down it’s a serious thought

I am very sorry to hear this and particularly the tragic way in which they died.

Apparently they were a very close family. He has a brother and two sisters . The brother runs the parents farm. He said he had an idyllic outdoors childhood

Floradora9 Sun 20-Aug-23 21:36:19

Father had dementia and mother had Prkinson's . She had recently remarked to Phil that they would probably go together so this is a comfort to th family . The third person in the car was their carer who survived so she will be able to tell what happened . She might have been the driver . They were on their way for a pub lunch sadly .

Phil is one of those presenters who seems very relaxed in his own skin, and content.. no doubt as a result of his upbringing.. such a shock and tragedy.. I feel for him

Phil and Kirsty.

I always remember the programme he made about going on the trail of his grandfather who was a GP in Australia and lived on Tamborine Mountain.
