Another analysis of Labour's offers if/when they win
(11 Posts)Labour gone back on the cast iron commitment to ban zero hours contracts after four days.
It’s care in the community commitment changed, going back to private companies that are failing.
Labour is offering and taking back regularly
SNP Asked RS in PMQs would he keep triple lock on pensions yes or no said that labour just same as conservatives on this.
The answer is to find an independent or party with the polices you agree with and vote for them.
It’s the only way to break the two party system offering the same polices.
Starmer won’t change once in power.
It’s the way to give us another tory government
I have just watched the video. The chap seems to be saying that a Labour Government would increase public sector pay and repair schools because that is what they did under Tony Blair, that that is what Labour Governments do, and this has been true in the past..
The problem I have is that Keir Starmer has not said they will do that. All he ever seems to talk about is not having any money to do anything much. His Labour party is very different to Tony Blair's, which offered hope for a better country.

Did you watch it Grany?
It was the constant repetitive nastiness and lies told about the previous leader and those policies that led to the current Tory Government.

No, it’s not different, other than that we are in a very different economic and infrastructure situation in the UK than we were in 1997. Repair is essential, that’s what the next government has no option but to concentrate on
Ilovecheese, he discusses what has happened, yes. He does say that is what he is going to do first in the piece and it does show us where we are now by comparing current Conservative spending and intentions with past Labour ones. Two "knowns". This is not uncommon when looking at the future.
He then talks about what has been announced, decisions already made, on how they will pay for improvements in the education system.
He then tells us what has been talked about in general. He does compare them not giving commitments in full with the Labour Party not being able to do so in 1997. He could have compared it to any party before an election. The last Conservative manifesto must have been the thinnest ever when it came to facts or concrete promises.
He does then add the commitment to ongoing teacher training, the proposal regarding the relationship between schools and local authorities, and some changes announced regarding the curriculum.
Of course some people will know all this but I posted it for everyone.
We seem to have moved into the phoney-war, or preparation stage of the next election . That will continue until about six weeks before the election. Meanwhile, as I like to hear analysis and discussion, I will continue to share it. There will always be some for whom it is new information or it expands what they have gleaned so far. I doubt these people will be as into politics as some of us are, but they may still find such articles interesting

I did not intend to include a quote in this post. Even if I had it was the wrong person’s post quoted! Usually quotes dissappear rather than someone else's post appearing.
I have no idea howiut happened but apologise for it doing so.

He won’t have much to improve anything unless he increases taxation, maybe borrow/create a modest amount to stimulate growth.
As for another political party gaining any traction, the LD give that option but never gain enough votes at a GE.
Labour will not know what money is available until the PM gives permission for Access Talks with the civil servants at the Treasury.
Because these talks are by convention, the incumbent government has discretion in when they are granted. In 2018 and early 2019, Labour repeatedly asked for the talks to begin in order to take into account the possibility of an early election. However, the requests were initially refused because the next election was not scheduled until 2022 under the Fixed-term Parliaments Act. They were eventually authorised to take place in October 2019, just two months before the election was held.
It is at the prime minister’s discretion whether smaller parties should be granted talks. For example, in 2015 David Cameron refused Nicola Sturgeon’s request that the SNP be granted talks with the civil service.
Once they have found out what they need to know they can complete their manifesto.
Meanwhile there will be others who have knowledge who can tell us what has happened in the past, what has been said during Labour's time in opposition; whose job it is to do all the research. Personally, I hope people will share these.
