If the bulldog is from a reputable breeder there’ll be paperwork about his breed to show as proof.

This is correct my sons came from a breed specific rescue he had been badly treated but has now found a home where he is loved and cared for properly.

No Oreo I didn't mean a British Bulldog the Olde Tyme Bulldog is much bigger but has many of the personality traits he is loyal calm can be very lazy and stubborn.

These pondlife will not go out of their way to obey the law, but identifying and reporting a dog out in public without a muzzle is easier than identifying and reporting a particular breed.

My neighbour was set upon by a labrador two days ago on the common. The owner blamed my friend for turning round when the dog leapt at her! It all beggars belief. We are hostage to these dogs and cannot walk in peace.

It’s not just pondlife that own them though I ve seen interviews lately with very normal looking people owning these dogs

I’m afraid that some are giving too much credence to the idea that these pondlife will take notice of a law.

That’s why the police will have to forcibly remove them.

If it looks like an XL Bully, walks like one and barks like one, take it to the vet to be euthanised, that’s my message to all local authorities.

That will not happen. My son has a Old Tyme Bulldog and to the inexperienced someone may look at him and think XL Bully he isn't although this breed was used in the breeding of XL bullies. Now knowing this dog very well I can't think why he is as daft as a brush and very people friendly.

You mean a British bulldog? Lovely dogs but nothing like an XL Bully.

Never heard of Old Tyme Bulldog but apparently it is one-half Bulldog, one-sixth American Bulldog, one-sixth Bullmastiff and one-sixth of other breeds. So basically it seems there is a lot of mingling of breeds going on and before long no-one is going to know what anything is. I suppose the only way is DNA testing for XL Bullys but is that even possible when there are so many of them around? I had no idea there were so many but it seems there are a lot of them and I suppose puppies are being born as we speak.

I never said I had an answer, just wondering how muzzling can be enforced when many of these owners are drug dealers and unlikely to co-operate. Most owners might muzzle them, but the bad owners are the ones with the most dangerous dogs, and how on earth do we get muzzles on those monsters?

I agree with Bridie22's suggestion. Bring in a law quickly that all dogs must be muzzled in public. I'd like to see us have the same law as Canada, dogs must be on a lead in public parks and on pavements. They have set aside spaces where dogs may exercise off lead, and if you keep a dog surely you have a garden where it may roam freely.
I know many dog owners will not like this, and of course most dogs aren't a problem, but how many more people have to be mauled or killed by dogs before we do something?

Also, I was thinking about the people who claim their XL Bully is loving and loyal, and show pictures of it with their baby or toddler. That actually makes me even more anxious. If the dog is utterly loyal to that family and then thinks someone outside the family might be a threat isn't it more likely to attack?

The owner of this last dog is on a murder change but it doesn’t bring the man back it needs stopping at source not after the deed has happened

Those huge dogs are not family dogs and have no place in the home, if one of those dogs turned who on earth could control it. A bite off one of those dogs would kill you. About time we had dog licences back, and every owner was accountable, the owner of dogs that kill people should be on murder charges, but stop it before any more lives are wrecked. A very slight dog trainer said it was down to the owner and what lovely dogs they are, don’t doubt it, the trouble is she couldn’t have controlled one had it turned, no one could. Why would anyone want a dog twice as big as the owner anyway if not for a deterrent.

They have to identify the breed I as a dog lover find this breed very different from anything I have experienced. Unsolicited breeding seems to be rife and puppies sold to inexperienced people who have not a clue what they are dealing with.

That’s understandable Iam64 but in the meantime this particular breed with a mouth as big as a tiger cannot surely be wandering around with incompetent owners
The muzzling could be brought in tomorrow while they are piddling around working out the breed which they may never sort out, so what then, just leave it as it is ? These deaths or major mauling seem almost weekly now

The bully XL is a mixed breed, created to fight and kill
Try teaching a collie not to chase or round things up, stop a lab from finding retrieving from water the best thing in life, stop a spaniel greeting you with a sock/soft toy/any gift in its soft mouth to give you just because you came home. German shepherds are loyal to their person, it’s recall generally spot on. Terriers catch rodents and kill them.
Breed characteristics will show. Handler-owners are of course important but good owners work with the things their dogs thrive on

I think you’re right, but while all the faffing about identifying breeds is going on, how many more people will be horribly mauled and die? How many will be children?

Maybe until the breed is established a law insisting these dogs are muzzled when out in public?

I think the problem in moving more quickly is that the XL Bully isn’t an actual breed so some investigation is needed in order to make sure the ban is correct and watertight.
