I'm talking about the people killed in Gaza. If you just look at that number - 5700 - then 26 Palestinians for each hostage. I matched the Israeli dead with the Palestinians which is how I got to 20. However you look at it, it's far too many dead.

I haven't included the number of injured because I don't know it. Obviously that would make it much higher.

I’m sure there is some support for Hamas,

…….and the events of 7/10 judging by a lot of the stuff I’ve seen since.

Are you saying there isn’t strong support for Hamas and other Muslim fundamentalists among some UK Muslim communities?

I’m sure there is some support for Hamas, although most would oppose the way settlement is done on the West Bank

At the moment I think that there are 220 hostages in Gaza. 5700 Palestinians have been killed by Israeli bombs. Even if the 1400 Israelis killed that works out to 20, mainly innocent people killed in Gaza.

Maddyone The Guardian did cover the screening of the video and there was quite a big piece that described in detail that was shown, headline below. The BBC also covered it but I can't find it ATM, they are constantly adding reports so it is easy to miss things online. I agree though that there is bias in our media, it's why I subscribe to several sources online.

I do think that extremism is undoubtedly the root cause of everything we are seeing, and should be condemned by all sides.

Extreme fundamentalism from Hamas -whose stated aim is to rid Palestine of all Israelis, who rule Gaza with a rod of iron which imo should now be seen as a dictatorial theocracy. The support from Iran and Qatar has ensured Hamas has been able to arm itself (unbeknown to Israel??) and plan for the absolute horror the world witnessed on 7th October with over 1000 killed and 200 hostages.

Extreme right wing politics from Netanyahu, who was fully aware of the way Hamas was arming itself and getting funding from Iran and Qatar amongst others. Who allowed thousands of illegal settlers to move into Palestinian territory then “protect” them with the IDF.
The result is since 7th October over 3000 children have been killed and thousands more will die unless aid is given immediately snd the world can persuade Netanyahu to hold back from a ground offensive.

I am confident however, that Netanyahu’s days are numbered - the Israelis will ensure that.

The Palestinians have no such democratic safeguard - the world must ensure that they too are able to be heard.

There is a world of difference between fundamental Islamists and Muslims.

As there is between a right wing Israeli government and ordinary non extreme Jews.

Only difference is it’s ok, in the eyes of some, to hold all Jews responsible for the ills of the world whilst roundly condemning any other form of prejudice.

Open your eyes! I could go on to Twitter (X) now and copy and paste a few dozen posts. It even happens on GN. One post was deleted a couple of days ago - you might nor even have realised it was there.

Of course the massacre on 7/10 was on a par with those other atrocities.
It was so horrendous that yesterday 150 journalists from all over the world were invited by the Israelis to view footage from the body cameras taken from dead or captured Hamas terrorists. The footage was so awful that it apparently reduced many of the journalists to tears and even vomiting. The atrocities that were questioned by some were clearly shown in the footage. The Israelis did this to close down the endless speculation that children had not been beheaded, women not been violated after being shot to death and so on. They said they had to prove that this did happen and was filmed. It was judged too violent and horrendous to be shown on British news outlets, and probably on other media outside Britain. The BBC didn’t mention it on the bulletin I watched. I looked at The Guardian last night, no mention. However both GB News and The Mail reported it.

As a parent of a serving Officer in the forces, I am getting increasingly anxious .

The UN has no teeth all we can hope for is that the IDF does not initiate it’s ground offensive and that Hamas releases more if not all hostages 🙏🏻

The UN demonstrates that it is not up to the job ? It is not offering much hope at the moment.

there is a definite difference between the way anti semitism is tolerated and excused and the way any other racism or prejudice isn’t

Very sadly I believe this is true.
The two threads long discussion on Gransnet has shown this, in part, to be the case.
The Guardian in it’s biased reporting has shown this to be the case.
The BBC, who refused to called Hamas terrorists, has shown this to be the case.
People I know in real life have shown this to be the case.
Even the UN have put out a statement which appears to justify what happened on 7/10.
