And still, to date, no-one has mentionned the Ben Gurion Canal Project and how it requires the destruction of the Palestininan people in Gaza. Netanyahu and his ilk have been looking for an excuse for a very long time, to replace the Suez Canal which is ruled/managed by Egypt.

I am not making any assumptions about who Paddyann is married to. All I am saying is that it is perfectly possible for Catholics and Jews to belong to the same family.
I don't like to bring many personal details to this forum so I won't go any further with that.

🤔
Really don't understand if someone has asked something why others have to chip in rather than just waiting for an answer
I don't understand, sorry

Who has asked something and why are posters not allowed to comment?

Glorianny Wed 08-Nov-23 11:19:31

Unfortunately one of the features of GN these days is pile-ons. Really don't understand if someone has asked something why others have to chip in rather than just waiting for an answer.

I hope there is not going to be another pile on against Paddyann. The last one was most unedifiing. Catholics are allowed to marry non Catholics these days you know.

pile on?

I think if posters state a personal fact to prove a point then claim a different personal fact, then other posters might be puzzled and question the claims.

maddyone Wed 08-Nov-23 10:33:11

It’s not a pile on Ilovecheese, merely a reiteration of what paddyanne has said herself. I didn’t know that she is married to a Jewish person, maybe she isn’t, I don’t believe she has said. And yes, I know that people who are Catholic are allowed to marry non Catholics, my own sister married a Catholic and we were brought up Methodist. Why do you think it’s a pile on?

The UN has limited powers, there is no International Army so it can't force compliance and the P5 members (US,UK, China, Russia and France) aren't always in agreement and can use the veto on any resolution they won't support. It's pretty effective in providing aid though.

Katie59 Tue 07-Nov-23 13:09:55

Putting the UN in charge of anything is a waste of time, they won’t stop Hamas attacking Israel and Israel responding, there has got to be a fundamental change in attitude between Israelis and Palestinians and vice versa, there will never be peace with Gaza an armed camp.

maddyone Tue 07-Nov-23 12:15:35

I can be corrected if I’m wrong, but seem to remember Paddyanne telling us that she is a lapsed Catholic. She has no religion now if I remember correctly.
I suppose she actually means her Jewish friends, who she has assured us that she’s got.

Thanks that seems to explain what is going on. I do think the North of Gaza will become a military zone and Palestinians will be packed into the south.

Sadly I think you are correct. I wonder how the UN etc will deal with that or will they just pretend it's not happening?

They will probably pass a resolution, which Israel will ignore and it will join the rest of them!

silverlining48 Tue 07-Nov-23 12:09:43

What sort of a question is that?

Oreo Tue 07-Nov-23 11:59:59

Are you and your family really Jewish Paddyann54 cos I have to say from all your comments you sure don’t sound to be.
BN isn’t popular as a leader and will be voted out you can bet when peace is eventually achieved, but what he has done or not done doesn’t matter a jot now as the Israeli government won’t be deterred from ridding Gaza of as much of hamas as they possibly can, and all that goes along with that aim.

paddyann54 Tue 07-Nov-23 11:22:22

The problem seems to be that what Netanyahu is doing is causing people who were supporters ,even with the ongoing Palestinian "problem " ,to jump ship .When the victim becomes the agressor its never good .This genocide of innocents will cause Israel more problems than their leader realises .
There are many jews in this country and worldwide who dont agree with bombing Gaza ,who have never thought the ILLEGAL settlements were justified or were acceptable in their religious beliefs .
I stand with Palestine .my Jewish family stand with Palestine

Heard on today’s bbc news that Netanyahu has announced that israel will be taking full security control fir an indefinite period in Gaza. He has just decided this, without consultation or discussion. Given the population have been ordered to move to the south, over 2 million palestinians will presumably be squeezed into south Gaza. Half the size of the isle of Wight. This will be the recruiting sergeant fir the struggle to go on.
Then the focus on the West Bank will begin in earnest.
There will be no peace while this inequality exists.
Netanyahu who has managed to avoid prison time after time is not to be trusted any more than Hamas.

Grany Tue 07-Nov-23 10:00:17

Netanyahu did this he bolstered Hamas

"Rather than deal with Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian National Authority, he sought to undermine him in the West Bank, while quietly enabling Hamas by "billions in Qatari cash and Iranian military know-how to flow into Gaza"

The real enemy of peace here is Netanyahu

How can you deal with someone who’s aligned with Hamas.

Hamas has declared frequently on public tv that it will repeat 7/10 time and time again until no Jews are alive in Israel.

Hamas also controls the Health Ministry in Gaza, so instead of channeling aid and supplies into its hospitals it squirrelled $’s away into offshore accounts and property portfolios along with stockpiling weaponry.

Well it seems that Netanyahu's way of dealing with Hamas was to allow it to become stronger so it became a more equal opposition to Fatah. His view was a divided Palestinian people was easier to deal with than one in harmony. Not one jot of anything that I have said is supportive of Hamas, not one word is anti semitic but I do think it's important to recognise that Netanyahu was aware of what was happening in Gaza and chose to turn a blind eye because it suited him. The Kibbutzim close to Gaza were homes to Israeli Jews who were most sympathetic to the plight of the Palestinian people and not supporters of Netanyahu. The music festival was for peace! It has been said in a number of reliable media that Netanyahu was warned that Hamas was preparing something, yet he still moved 2,000 IDF soldiers based near to Gaza to the West Bank to protect illegal settlers in the West Bank. Nothing that I have said excuses the vile behaviour of Hamas, nothing can excuse it, it was beyond anything that one human should do to another. However, I think it's important to understand the politics of the region. You might disagree and that is your right but this tragedy would not have happened if the Kibbutzim had been properly protected. This is why many Jews, both in Israel and living in other countries, are so angry with him.

From today's Telegraph:
"For more than a decade, Benjamin Netanyahu, Israel’s prime minister, has sought to undermine Palestinian unity by playing its two most powerful bodies off against each other.

Rather than deal with Mahmoud Abbas, president of the Palestinian National Authority, he sought to undermine him in the West Bank, while quietly enabling Hamas by "billions in Qatari cash and Iranian military know-how to flow into Gaza.

It was classic divide and rule, the idea being to avoid a long-term settlement with the Palestinians – something that would inevitably involve Israeli compromise."

I was pleased to see this in the Telegraph, it's what the media on the left have been saying since this conflict started.

Good the truth is getting out there.

What really happened on 7th October?
Evidence is now emerging that up to half the Israelis killed were combatants; that Israeli forces were responsible for some of their own civilian deaths; and that Tel Aviv disseminated false ‘Hamas atrocities’ stories to justify its devastating air assault on Palestinian civilians in Gaza.

700 Palestinian children are locked up every year in military prison.

There has got to be a better way than war war war. Stop western governments like UK and USA arming Israel There has to be a diplomatic solution.

What about Iran, Russia, North Korea stopped supplying Hamas and Hezbollah.
What about Qatar stop funding them.
What about Lebanon stopped allowing the above to build arms factories in Lebanon.
What about South American countries stop dealing drugs with them. From which they earn billions.
