I've been dipping into this periodically. I'm horrified by the statements as reported in main stream media.

I haven’t watched it, out all day, so I only saw a few clips on the news, all Dominic Cummings.
He is indeed the most arrogant of men, totally dislikeable in every way. I wouldn’t trust him to speak the truth, only his truth.

Yes, arrogant and insolent.

And determined to whitewash himself.

He doesn’t matter though, does he, he’s a bit player not a main character.

It doesn’t surprise me that Johnson thought that older people were dispensable. What surprises me more is that he was arrogant and naive enough to say so, and to put his thoughts into print when and think there would be no consequences. History will judge him as the worst PM we have ever had.

I actually think he’s probably neurodivergent, Autism or Aspergers come to mind, but as I’m not a doctor, I’m not diagnosing, simply my non medical opinion.

It possibly because most aren't surprised, the idea that Johnson was in any way equipped to lead a country during a pandemic was ridiculous.
Also I suspect

Well, we all knew BJ was running around like a headless chicken.
His contempt for older people is revealing.

Callistemon21 Tue 31-Oct-23 22:54:36

He is just so insolent!

Allsorts Tue 31-Oct-23 22:52:42

I can't get over what an absolutely horrible man Cummings is, his foul mouthed rants, how did he get the job in the first place, he dislikes everyone, has no social skills, no redeeming qualities, seems deranged. Goodness knows how his family functions with him at the helm.Enquiry waste of time entirely predictable and nothing will alter, monkeys would have done a better job.

Galaxy Tue 31-Oct-23 22:32:22

Also I suspect that any enquiries into covid will only skim the surface. I don't think we will have any perspective on the pandemic for years

It is horrible to know that this is the way our Prime Minister and his Government thought about people our age. As if we are disposable as long as the economy doesn't suffer. As if we have nothing to add to society or indeed the economy.

Just think of all the people our age who staunchly defended him on GNet hmm

Are any still willing to do so?

I am!! 😜

I am surprised at how few posts there are on this thread. I expected it to be as busy as the politics threads usually are.
Why would this be?

I am genuinely curious, not being ingenious.

MayBee70 Tue 31-Oct-23 21:16:59

Looking forward to Johnson being up before the committee. Although, I would assume they still won't have access to his lost messages?

Doesn’t Cummings understand, given that he’s slating everybody in government and the civil service, that he was the main advisor to the most powerful man in the country at the time. He really can talk the talk can’t he. It is riveting though.

Yes, this !!!

and the CEVs.

After all we are a drain on the NHS. I know I am.
I was admitted to hospital with a second heart attack during the pandemic, home in twenty four hours, with no follow up. At the time, I said to my husband, I'm sure they are hoping I will die and take some pressure off the system.

I am wondering if any of the "older" voters, who always tell you that Good Old Boris is Such A Card, will be changing their views.

Self promotion is BJ's skill set as many who have worked with him have said over the years.

MayBee70 Tue 31-Oct-23 19:15:09

What exactly is Boris Johnson’s skill set?

M0nica Tue 31-Oct-23 19:11:29

I want to say did anyone ever believe that BJ was capable of runnng a whelk stall, let alone a government - except, of course, so many people do

By the way can anyone think of a crisis that was right for BJ's skill set? I cannot.

Oldbat1 Tue 31-Oct-23 19:06:10

Yes ive been watching. The bottom line was BJ just not up to doing PM job!

GrannyGravy13 Tue 31-Oct-23 18:58:45

I think most Governments were floundering , ours appears to have been drowning.

Luckygirl3 Tue 31-Oct-23 18:49:08

Here is a gem from a Mr Cain, communications officer at number 10 ......

"It was the wrong crisis for this prime minster's skill set."

Head in hands icon needed ...........

Want to hear how prioritising the economy translated into closing the schools and keeping them closed. Those pigeons are coming home to roost and the economy will suffer from an under-educated workforce.
