Johnson goes to Israel!

After his visit to Ukraine at the start of the war proved beneficial, Boris Johnson's current trip to Israel smells of desperation. Having been slammed by the recent Covid witnesses as chaotic, fickle, weak and incompetent, first he tried putting out a written defence. Now he’s gone off to Israel claiming to show support for the Netanyahu government. Why? It’s not his role. He can add nothing. Who is paying - flight, security etc? Of course, its us the tax payers. As Netanyahu's future looks less secure, this can’t be seen as anything other than a weak man seeking any route to divert attention from his own current humiliation.

Blair did help to bring about peace in Ireland and Yugoslavia though.

🤔

I thought Paddy Ashdown was a peacemaker in the Balkans.

And Mo Mowlam brokered the peace in N.Ireland although Blair made sure she was kept in the background when he signed the agreement.

Omg! Bj a known liar and a disgraced ex politician what on earth can he offer? He was sacked from being foreign secretary post after many faux pas and then in the Tories madness became PM. Perhaps he is now acting for GB news. The UK lunging from disaster to disaster. I despair!

I agree with your last statement Calli and thank god Boris gave such robust support to the Ukraine. Sadly I think the war in the Middle East is taking precedence and poor Ukraine will not be supplied with what it desperately needs this winter by Europe nor America.

Johnson should not be meddling in this highly volatile situation. Based on his past form he is likely to put his foot in his mouth and make things worse. Hopefully no-one of any significance will take any notice of him🤞🤞🤞

I couldn’t believe the encouragement BJ gave to the Ukrainian government to fight a war with no winners against Russia. Still no resolution in sight there. How many deaths?

I think in thst instance he was right.
Poor Ukraine is fighting for all of Europe.

Personally, if it works[doubtful], and if he doesnt make things any worse, I am for it.

The situation is in desperate need of peace. Desperate.

I’ve just heard that BJ is going to Israel with the former PM of Australia.
Don’t know what their objective is though, it didn’t say.

Apparently both expressing solidarity with Netanyahu.

Good grief. They really shouldn't be meddling.

Is Blair still some sort of peace envoy to the Middle East or did that fizzle out?

Since then he started the Tony Blair Institute for Global Change.

Someone please remove his passport!
Kalu 😁

Yes!
Blair was another meddler and much good that did too.

Nothing this buffoon does within the UK or abroad ends well.

Callistemon21 Sun 05-Nov-23 12:28:09

I did wonder why Blair has not shown his face yet apart from saying it will all have to be re-thought.

I think we all knew that.

Blinko Sun 05-Nov-23 12:26:23

Ah, feted for his diplomacy skills, now. Of course he covered himself with glory as Foreign Secretary, didn’t he? Tell that to Nazanin Zachariah Ratcliffe.

Glorianny Sun 05-Nov-23 12:25:17

I think he's just another politician cashing in on the Middle East. He's not quite as bad as Blair who started an unnecessary war and then became a peace envoy.
You do realise why many from that area think the British are mad.

CvD66 Sun 05-Nov-23 12:24:39

GrannyGravy13 you are not suggesting he could be part of the negotiating team, surely? Just look at his skills outlined by the Covid witnesses!

Chocolatelovinggran Sun 05-Nov-23 12:24:07

Callistemon 😄

Callistemon21 Sun 05-Nov-23 12:20:15

He could be Jedi now

maddyone Sun 05-Nov-23 12:18:53

You could well be right Callistemon although I thought he was Christened Catholic as a baby. But he could have renounced that when he became PM. He certainly got married to Carrie in a Catholic Church, and the babies were Christened Catholic.

Callistemon21 Sun 05-Nov-23 12:16:43

maddyone

No Nanna8, he’s Catholic.

Carrie is Roman Catholic, not sure if Boris is still as he renounced Catholicism in favour of becoming an Angican.

I think - who knows?

maddyone Sun 05-Nov-23 12:16:10

Agreed Whitewave, with some Turkish ancestry. Nor sure of the religion of the Turkish ancestry though, but possibly Islam.
