A public Remembrance is good. What is bad about the one that is currently shown on television is Establishment symbolism such as overmuch respect for aristocrats in their fine clothes, and officers' uniforms , too much respect for career politicians likewise all dressed up, and too much respect for people marching in tight formation in short too much respect for war and not enough sorrow for the pathos of human life and death.
I do not think that the children marching yesterday with their black and yellow scarves representing Scottie’s little soldiers (children who have a parent killed in recent conflict) or the surviving veterans being pushed in their wheelchairs along with all the veterans marching past the cenotaph are establishment symbolism
They just want to show their respect to the fallen, as do our politicians, both UK and those Countries who stood with the U.K. over the years in various wars, along with members of the Royal Family.
Speaking as a member of a military family, those family members still serving have absolutely no problem with a Royal being in an honorary position and wearing a uniform/medals.
