Well the government was always very keen to say that inflation was nothing to do with them so not sure they can claim any credit here.....

The facts?

Well when the Crown finishes perhaps Netflix can begin a dramatisation of the fiasco which has been played out to an ever disbelieving public. It could start with Boris and his antics etc etc followed by the Truss debacle and then the Rishi versus SB ( wicked witch of No 10) where the Tory Party either implodes or retires to fight another day.

To be precise - they have gone up more slowly.

So what has Sunak done to achieve a slowing down? B….r all as far as I can see.

I reckon the row will happen whatever the Rwanda verdict.

For government - Braverman will claim total validation.

Against government - Braverman will lay the blame on Sunak for his total lack of support etc.

Cleverly is against Rwanda - so I suppose even if the case is won, Rwanda will not be used as a “bin um and forget um”disposal point.

Spin doctors and politicians are masters of the 'smoke and mirrors' games the world over, hence the lack of trust in any of them.

Comparing and contrasting what constitutes good manners in this situation is really quite entertaining. Put simply, Suella put her tanks on his lawn and continued to fire at Sunak. She positioned herself for a takeover. Awful manners. Sunak got his tanks in a row, quietly behind the front lawn then fired her. I don’t care if he phoned her, maybe he was responding quite deliberately in an attempt to put her down a peg or ten.

What s shambles though, we need strong, stable government and we watch as the Conservatives descend into farce

What will be todays flashpoint is Rwanda.

I can see a massive row brewing there.

I would have thought that being sacked by telephone was infinitely preferable to the walk of shame up Downing Street. Do people think he should have popped round to tell her over breakfast?

Don’t they go in a side entrance if it’s bad news? So that cameras don’t get them?

Therese Coffey went in the front to be sacked. There is an entrance through Cabinet Office, but I didn't think that was normally used for hiring and firing!

The inflation data is released on the same day/week every month, so it’s no surprise that it’s the headlines today. If there should be cynicism, it would be about yesterday’s announcements - and it depends whether you think Sunak was going to make them regardless, or whether he was pushed by Braverman’s behaviour last week. I don’t suppose we will ever find out which it was.

But I reckon that Sunak is gambling on the fact that immigration is not high on the voters list, whereas the economy the cost of living and health is.

When it comes to an election, the economy is in the forefront every time.

Interesting to see that SB was trying to implement 2019 election promises as a condition for supporting Sunak as pm. Not forgetting that the CP voted for Liz Truss in preference to Sunak.
Presumably trying to push through election promises is old hat now?

I can’t help thinking that Sunak is committed to increasing the numbers of legal migrants and that SB opposed this.
So not forgetting legal migration is around 600,000 last year.

Yes indeed. I don’t like the man, I don’t think he’s a good PM. To sack anyone by phone shows very poor character in my opinion. I’ll be glad to see him ousted come the election.

I'd be delighted to see him ousted because he'll take the Conservative Party with him.

I don't have a crystal ball, but it will be fascinating watching the Conservative Party trying to regroup.

Good riddance. He's done us all a favour.
