Clues to the Conservatives planning for an early election?

I've never seen a Labour Councillor round here since I moved in. ,people are very disillusioned with Conservative and I daresay after all these years think a change will be better, do. think this Covid enquiry a total waste of time and money. All these enquiries just don't do anything. Wish Labour had a better leader than Keir, he's so wet but better than Corbyn or Abbot I suppose.

I'm not sure why this government needs a year to plan for the election M0nica. After all they haven't taken the time to plan for anything else for 13 years.

We had a visit from the someone from the Labour Party - 1st time ever in 32 years. Something is definitely afoot. He was very personable and promised to send me some info on their 'green' proposals. Not heard a thing.

Our local Conservative MP sent us a leaflet a couple of days ago.

There's a rumour that our local Conservative MP looked up Google maps to find out where her constituency is.

Nobody on this thread has put forward a sigle action that could be described as preparing for an early election.

Looks far more like stating to get lots of lit and campaigning done well in advance form when all spending has to be charged to election expenses.

You do really need a year to plan for an election and, while the polls stand as they do, the current government seem likely to hold on as long as possible.

Wishful thinking all round.

Perhaps because some are very personally affected by what this Government has done and keeps doing?

It will be when it will be. I really am not interested in perceived smoke signals. What’s the point of speculation, unless you’re placing bets or have a trading position?

Back to flags for an early election.

The Bank of England is directly referring to Brexit.

It has, over the last few years mention issues caused by or made worse by Brexit but has avoided the words or not been explicit about the links.

Suddenly this seems to have changed. First Andrew Bailey, the Governor of the Bank, a couple of weeks ago said Brexit had restricted the openness of the economy - using the word and not dancing around it. This must have been a blow to the free-market capitalists in the Conservative Party who created these conditions. Now the Deputy Governor, Dave Ramsdon, saying that Brexit has chilled investment.

We may have known this but up to now the Bank had not been so explicit. Why now? Do they see the government presure on the way out?

We are being moved (again) into a new constituency for the next Westminster election. Most of the new one has a Tory MP and he sent us a letter several weeks ago. It said nothing about what his plans for the future would be, but a lot about why we shouldn’t vote SNP. Not very convincing as a pitch for our votes!

A local Labour person delivered a leaflet last week for the new Labour Parliamentary candidate.

Our LibDem candidate sent us a leaflet almost a month ago. I wasn’t impressed that it contained little more than criticism of the current Conservative MP (who is very visible in the community and gets a lot done). As this has been a Conservative stronghold for many years, it wouldn’t have gone down well.
