Anyone going to be reading his latest swipe at the Royal Family which comes out tomorrow?

Me neither!

Apparently Katie Keen is a character in a US magazine called Archie that Meghan loved when she was a youngster.most Americans haven’t heard of it either. I leave you to draw your own conclusions

Jaberwok Sat 02-Dec-23 13:47:23

Apparently Prince Harry himself, before he was married, jokingly wondered whether his Ginger genes would override Meghans darker genes in the children they might have.
Probably the same conversation that is now being banded around as being racist!

Obviously I haven’t read all of the scuttlebutt in the media about this debacle. However three things have stuck me. The translators are adamant on two points, firstly that the names were in the script and secondly that there was no comment in it saying that Scobie had decided not to name the two individuals. Surely if the names had been added in error, then this decision would be there just as it was in other editions. The omission is surely an indication that either the names were supposed to be there, or someone has inadvertently sent the translators the edition that had not been checked by lawyers. When this was pointed out in an Interview, Scobie did not reply.

Finally, he said that he had seen the letter. I find it very difficult to believe that Charles left a piece of correspondence of this magnitude lying around, or that in this unlikely event. anyone seeing it could take a copy and pass it in to Scobie risking discovery and the furore that would result.

I would reiterate that I have only read/seen a small sample of what has been released, but these are my conclusions.

I wonder what stunt they’ll pull to coincide with Kate’s annual Carol concert?

It's really rather sad that they have embarked on a new life in America but can't move on and are eaten up with jealousy and resentment, needing to spoil everyone else's lives in order to make themselves feel better.
Yes, and Smileless2012 also makes good points above.
What a poisonous pair, using their children to peddle hatred.

Smileless2012 Sat 02-Dec-23 12:22:21

Omid Scabie and M, maybe H too wanted them to be named and hopefully shamed or their names would never have appeared in this odious book.

Well it looks as it it's backfired spectacularly as I've yet to see anyone say anything other than talking about Archie's colouring prior to his birth, is a perfectly natural thing to do.

It's very sad to see children being used as weapons when there's estrangement in the family, and poor little Archie's being used in the worse way possible.

Joseann Sat 02-Dec-23 12:14:01

Isn't keen something positive?

Keen to set a good example
Keen to get involved and support
Keen to be discreet
A keen team player
A keen sportswoman
Keen to not upset other family members

Jaberwok Sat 02-Dec-23 12:04:50

I absolutely agree that I like most people were not aware of, or cared about, Meghans background. If asked I would have thought Italian maybe,Spanish perhaps, but not in a negative way! No I have never heard of Katie Keen, never mind in the same breath as Catherine! She most certainly has never been called that in this country. Quite honestly this particularly vile, offensive slur against the RF has Meghans fingerprints all over it. As for Harry? Who knows what he really thinks, least of all him! Those poor children.

maddyone Sat 02-Dec-23 11:21:03

I just wonder what their children will make of all this when they’re adults. Will Harry and Meghan have succeeded in poisoning their minds about both sides of their families, or will they be justifiably aggrieved to have lost out in so many ways?

twiglet77 Sat 02-Dec-23 11:11:04

The nasty, whining Sussexes and their repulsive mouthpiece, Scobie, deserve each other.

Whatever the truth about the alleged comment, it’s regrettable that H&M chose to make it public in the way that they did, in a high-profile celebrity interview that will probably be replayed and discussed for years to come. H&M’s children will get the message that their skin colour was an issue in their family, and the seeds are sown for future problems, courtesy of their troubled parents.

… and that is the saddest part of all this.

JenniferEccles Sat 02-Dec-23 11:05:41

I imagine William is absolutely furious about the possible slur on Catherine’s name.

I don’t believe for one minute that the royals are racist, and I even include the late Prince Philip in that.

Who actually disclosed the names of course, we can’t be sure. Scooby Doo, H and M or some malicious person in publishing, who knows?

I bet nobody on here had ever heard Catherine referred to as Katie Keene before Scobie’s book. I certainly hadn’t.

Apparently she’s a character in an American comic book called ‘Archie’ and is a favourite of Meghan’s. Well, there’s a surprise!!

I am another who just assumed meghan had Mexican, Italian, Spanish ancestry. When we were told other, I, like so many others, was delighted because it meant that the Royal family would now, quite fortuitiously reflect the make up of so many British families, and I suspect that was probably the reaction of the RF, they have always been very savvy at reflecting the changes in British society.

Both the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are the products of seriously dysfunctional families is it surprising that they themselves have continued this into adulthood? And, sadly, they have chosen to bring their own children up to be alienated form any wider family than their parents, so that they are missing the wider experience of grandparents, aunts, uncles and cousins all from widely differing backgrounds, which enriches most people's lives and helps shape our ability to maintain happy and harmonious relationships, with wide variety of people we meet in life.

Sibling rivalry is common in many families the eldest often does have all the advantages of being first in line, later children can rise above it and do their own thing, Harry chose not to. Even as “spare” he had the advantages most dream of and could have dedicated himself to something useful, I suppose Invictus is part of that, but how much he does he actually do apart from being patron.

I'm still struggling with the fact that Catherine, as a young modern woman, well-versed in wokery stuff, would have slipped up or made any faux pas here.

Why would she indeed? I'm pretty sure it's a horrible lie.

Oprah’s ‘surprise’ always looked fake to me. The “whaaaat?”and the look of ‘horror’ wouldn’t have won any Oscars.

Added to Meghan’s ‘butter wouldn’t melt’ wistful look.

Regarding the baby’s colour. Well, I know that if my son had married a mixed race woman, I would have been very interested in how dark (or light) its skin would be. Not racist or ‘unconscious bias’, but plain curiosity.

If Harry told Meghan about these family discussions, he was wrong to do so. ‘Where ignorance is bliss….’

All the fuss Meghan makes about colour. When she first came on the royal scene, I thought she could have been Mexican, Italian, Spanish….

And what bit we have seen of the children, all the unwarranted fuss and attention could have been avoided.

I don’t believe Oprah was unprepared for the ‘revelation’. Her surprise didn’t look at all real to me. It would all have been scripted and rehearsed.

Had it been scripted and rehearsed, her "surprise", as an experienced actress, would have seemed a lot more authentic

Delila Fri 01-Dec-23 23:10:56

Of course families discuss these things, it’s perfectly natural whatever the ethnicity of the parents, and I doubt whether it was ever a matter of “concern”. After all, Meghan Markle, herself a person of colour, was presumably already an accepted member of the family, and not experiencing any form of discrimination.

I wouldn’t be surprised if the same speculation was taking place in Meghan Markle’s own family.

maddyone Fri 01-Dec-23 18:56:28

We wondered whether any of our grandchildren would have red hair as my daughter’s then husband had dark red hair. Also my sister was auburn before she decided to go blonde. To our absolute delight our gorgeous little granddaughter has beautiful red hair. One of our daughter’s boys has gorgeous blond hair just like my three all had, and the other has brown hair, much like my dad’s. We even wondered what colour hair and eyes our son’s little boy would have and he’s adopted!
Answer: black hair and huge brown eyes.

Absolutely!

Totally agree. She'd gone into acting mode. Oscar winner

So nobody has ever before discussed whether a baby will take after the blond haired mother or the dark haired father. Or if the baby will look more like one parent than the other.
What makes it racist is when someone queries why people might discuss that implying that there’s a cause for concern, rather than just interest.

Or, in our case, surprise-red haired babies. I expected them to be blonde.
Never presume anything 😁
