Three Home Secretaries, one sacking and a resignation..

Is the Rwanda policy finally pulling the Tories apart?. Since 2022 Pritti Patel launched this ridiculous policy, the Tories have thrown money and Home Secretaries at this policy. Let’s consider: it will cost £65 k more per refugee to get and keep the refugee in Rwanda than keeping them in UK. Then UK will need to pay for a Monitoring Body and an Appeals body of UK and Commonwealth judges. That’s in addition to the £140m already handed over (up £20m from initial payment). If the refugee commits a crime in Rwanda they will be returned to…the UK. Then there is the unspecified number of vulnerable Rwandan refugees we have to take in exchange. But of course this policy is preferred to taking up the French god’s offer to build a processing plant in Calais!

I think it goes farther than the Rwanda issue. It's about Suella and her bid to become leader, Jenrick is lining up beside her and doesn't want to stay tarnished with the probable failure of this latest plan. None of these MPs seem to care about running the country or serving the people, it's just about political ambitions.

It's always about ambition for the Tories. Their problem now is they have run out of able Ministerial candidates and Sunak has to scrape the barrel and bring back retreads like Cameron. Mrs T would never have appointed some of the dross we have seen in recent years.
