He brought poetry to so many who would never read a poetry book. A great loss.

So sad. I was shocked to see the headline.

I was really saddened by this news this morning. Although I had never had the good fortune to meet him, I always felt a warmth, a kindness in his voice, a gentle soul who made his point without ranting. A sad loss

Such a lovely, clever, articulate and thought provoking man
A very big loss to our country, very sad, only 64 and all very quick
A very sad day

Very sad news.

Yes very sad, my brother died of a brain tumour so often the cause of an untimely death. I often enjoyed seeing him on QT when I watched it, not lately. I thought he had an unconventional and often interesting take on matters which were worth listening to. Also loved his poems, especially, I think it was called "Turkeys at Christmas".

RIP

Just heard he was diagnosed with a brain tumour a few weeks ago, he was only in his early 60 s. A shock for his family and he will be missed by many.

A giant of a man. The U.K. has lost a man of integrity, creativity and moral intelligence.
