I loved his poems, bough a few books by him, and loved the way he put poetry across to make them fun to read and understanding various ways with words.
yes it was such a sad thing to read of his death. I never met him personally but used to enjoy listening to him on various programmes and on Poetry Please. The Turkey poem was very good and he was always worth listening to. I am grateful for the radio that allowed me to hear him so many times. A gentle man and a gentleman who was always worth listening to. RIP Benjamin we will miss you
A wonderful and humble man. Loved his poetry and admired hugely his achievements. Often used his poems in my lessons and the children loved them. He was perfect in Peaky Blinders too. Such a great loss.
shockingly sudden and young,, he was such a charismatic and moving man.. we must cherish these wonderful people whilst they are still alive we really need them..
The world needs more people like Benjamin! Read his poem “The British” we should all have it framed on our walls Gone far too soon as all good people do
Yes the world has lost a truly great man .Thank you for this thread Whitewave ....dedicated to a man who stood for injustice and freedom .He wrote a song in 2017 called Palestine( part of the world close to his heart) . I tried to upload it but after many attempts I'm afraid l failed. R.I.P. Benjamin.
So sad to learn of Benjamin Zephaniah's death. My son sent me a text with the news. We loved his poetry and when my children were young they learnt and recited "Talking Turkeys". I saw Benjamin perform on stage in Stoke-on-Trent. He was amazing. After the show I lined up to get his autograph and to my joy had an interesting chat with him.
