BlueBelle

I can’t even bear to read the article just hearing the two names together makes me want to vomit

That sounds like what used to be called a hysterical reaction, BlueBelle, and must be very debilitating indeed. Have you sought medical help?

I don't see extreme distaste for two people who have worked to destroy Britain and messed up 1,000s, if not 1,000,000s, of people's lives in the process as being in the least bit hysterical.

But - if we are to take what Bluebelle says at face value (and who am I to disbelieve her?) - then she actually suffers acute physical nausea when she hears two particular names spoken together. Surely that degree of psychosomatic reaction goes well beyond what is normal and healthy?
Or is BlueBelle perhaps exaggerating for effect: as in "I literally exploded with rage when I discovered that Nigel had come only 3rd in the Jungle"?

I have to turn the television off if he comes on. He nauseates me. Bluebell isn’t alone.

The ERG has been keeping a very low profile recently, but they are out in force, with all claws and daggers out. What a nasty lot- how come we tax payers are funding their seedy activities.

“We” taxpayers Fleurpepper ? confused

Siope Mon 11-Dec-23 22:56:08

On factions: there are at least six, five on the swivel-eyed loons wing of the party:
- Krugerite New Conservatives
- Francois-led ERG
- Stevensonian (possibly slightly less swivel eyed) Northern Research group
- Hayesian culture warriors, the Common Sense Group
- the Redwood coterie of maximum madness, Truss supporters No Turning Back

Not sure how much they are at war with each other, but they are all at war with Sunak, and quite possibly with

- the One-Nation Tories, whom the Cameroons excluded from swivel-eyed loon status, although some may wonder why, and who are themselves also now apparently at war with Sunak.

How many warring factions are there in the Conservative Party?

The horrific thing is with the Conservative party as it is now, in Mrs Thatcher's words TINA, There Is No (credible) Alternative.

Remember when there was - Mrs Thatcher, but also Michael Heseltine, Ken Clarke, Peter Walker, Lord Carrington, John Major.

One may not have supported Conservative Paty, but these men were towering intellects compared with the current shower and all were respected over seas and competent.

This lot couldn't organise a piss-up in a brewery.

Actually RosiesMaw ignore that question. It’s none of my business! As my dear dad taught me over 50 years ago. Unless you choose to say, it’s between you and the ballot box and it’s highly rude to ask.

It will never happen so pointless getting worked up about it.

Nobody is getting worked up about it. If you think they are you're imagining things...

Urmstongran Mon 11-Dec-23 19:32:11

Next question Rosie’sMaw? Hmm.
Who would be your dream ticket in a GE? 🤔

RosiesMaw Mon 11-Dec-23 18:22:33

No.
Next question?

I will be watching Farage on GBNews at 7pm tonight. Since he’s been in the Jungle, Braverman & Jenrick have resigned over the leaky Rwanda deal that the ‘Star Chamber’ of lawyers in the ERG say has more holes (13 to be exact) than a colander. So many challenges will be enabled by migrant lawyers it’s going to be an (expensive - legal aid anyone? And who pays for THAT!) right old merry-go-round. Plus Cameron has been brought back, via a seat in the Lords no less, to shore up support and give gravitas to Sunak. It will make for an entertaining and informative hour till 8pm.

Regards the Rwanda Bill. I hope it doesn’t make it through the HoC vote tomorrow evening. It’s not robust enough so why bother? But I think Sunak hopes it’s wishy washy enough to get agreement of the One Nation caucus and get it into the Lords. Where it’ll sink. But most of the electorate won’t be so tuned in and will likely think ‘aw, he’s doing his best and look 👀 it’s those out of touch Lords again on the red benches, thwarting his best try’.

France must look at the UK and think we are their Rwanda ...

Well I can assure you that this member of "the electorate" won't be tuned in to GB news.

Could someone, please, explain to me why there are people who want to vote for sociopaths, grifters and outright liars?

It is an imponderable.

I agree tickingbird, it’s just the fevered dreams of the right wing press on a quiet Monday.

Nigel Farage was an MEP who were not known for their abstemiousness. I think that Mr Farage commenting on the House of Commons is indulging in that activity known as pot calling the kettle black.

Siope Mon 11-Dec-23 16:16:19

I probably - definitely - should have said financially illiterate, since, where I have any understanding of them, their baseline figures are mostly inaccurate.

But even economically I fail to see how they can promise, as they do, zero net immigration and a lower direct tax burden for working adults and growth in public services and the market.

MaizieD Mon 11-Dec-23 15:50:37

OMG, yes, Siope! Their energy policy is truly frightening...

MaizieD Mon 11-Dec-23 15:47:57

They are economically illiterate,

I've had a look through their 'policies' and parts of their economic proposals are actually quite good. Namely, to sideline the QE 'debt' which isn't a debt in reality, by converting it to a very long dated bond with a low interest rate. In doing so, remove it from the record of the 'national debt'. And to stop 'Quantitative Tightening', which is removing money from the economy. Also to stop paying interest on bank reserves, which, as they were created by the central bank (BoE) makes no sense whatsoever and just contributes to the deficit, besides handing banks completely unearned profit.

The rest isn't brilliant.

Apart from that, assertions that they're going to remove 'woke' are just ludicrous...

flump Mon 11-Dec-23 15:44:24

Siope Mon 11-Dec-23 15:17:23

I did (I’m bored witless today!). They are economically illiterate, largely undeliverable, limited in scope (I mean they cover very few areas of policy) and depth (no analysis, poor long-term planning, dubious financial claims, no counterfactuals) .

Of course, the long-term planning is probably irrelevant, since their energy ‘policy’ (based on incorrect figures re both costs and subsidies, inevitably) will have fried the planet within a short period.
