Two interesting interviews

I have to agree with foxie that AR articulated in a way all can understand her. She also listened carefully when RS disagreed with her and to me appeared to take onboard his objections. She also seemed to be able to negotiate a compromise; something that has been sorely missing for the last thirteen, going on fourteen years.

There was no interview with KS in my links Allsorts, but should he do one I'm sure it will be put up by one of the Gnetters. Did you watch the interview with Wes Streeting? I was pleased to hear he was doing his research on what other countries do well while maintaining the by all, for all funding structure of the NHS. I also like (few who have read my posts will be surprised) his views on more community based access. More about place than politics makes me very happy.

I also like hearing from the members of the leadership team, not just, or in this case even, the leader.

I think AR has good ideas and plans,I feel she’s down to earth and honest. her presentation skills let her down. KS I used to think he had no opinions as he never voiced any, now I see he goes with what he thinks is a winning strategy, doesn't necessarily believe it though. I wish they had a stronger leader with a bit of passion. Conservatives, well what can you say! It’s a dismal picture.

She's a quick learner and very articulate. I was really put off with her "scum Tories" rant and wondered if I would want her representing GB in a high profile role but actually she's a breath of fresh air. She shows humanity and humility which is sadly lacking in British politics ATM.

I've only watched the AR interview but any reservations that I had about her have gone. Thank you for posting this, I keep missing the Trip videos, always listen to the podcasts though. I really warmed to her and she's one very bright woman.

I am so glad I watched the AR interview - what an amazing woman she is to have achieved her position after her start in life. So articulate, decisive and fair.

Those are some of my go-to news sources to Greyisnotmycolour. They are a very different format to MSM. I prefer to listen to the views of the person being interviewed than those of a combative host. Questions that help the interviewee elucidate their view are so much more useful the aggressive challenges to that view.

Also, when they do an analysis piece, with the bias is declared. Obviously MSM is more paternalistic and wants to tell us what to think whereas some of us would rather make up our own minds

One of the most interesting but political points in the AR interview was when AR was asked how she saw the centrist-right Conservative by RS. If she wants to attract these people she learned how at least one of them differentiates himself from the far-right of that party .

Thank you for posting them DaisyAnnReturns, it's good to see them being shared with a wider audience. I've almost given up on TV news and have replaced it with radio and podcasts. My news diet is now mainly The News Agents, Andrew Marr and The Rest is Politics. I like the range if views and the in depth interviews that actually allow the subject to speak. The Labour policies are there and some are excellent but it's no good waiting for a mainly right wing press to tell you about them. If anyone wants to know what they are, they will have to seek them out for themselves by looking at a broader range of resources.

DAR I think Wes Streeting probably has his heart in the right place but did he say that the Conservatives had been in power for 30 years? I thought Emily Maitlis summed up well at the end. So for me, Rachael Reeves is the key player in how to recover the economy and of course Keir Starmer’s vision needs to come to the fore. Still it will be an interesting 2024.

You're right about the jumper!

I agree Angela Rayner could be a force to be reckoned with whatever happens. (In a good way). I'm just in awe of what she has done with her life. Perhaps she will pick up something from what RS said about what is and isn't attractive to him in Labour.

I'd love to hear what you glean from the other one Ronib. I felt I had more sense of their direction of policy after watching it.

Okay Angela Rayner could be the best thing ever for families with a bipolar parent plus reforming treatments for bipolar patients. This is very long overdue and to my way of thinking the UK is not operating well in this area.
Even if Labour doesn’t gain a majority in the next election, I hope that Angela Rayner can work to improve this very neglected and overlooked health problem. I also hope that Angela Rayner achieves her aim of building large numbers of Council homes which people are happy to inhabit.
I don’t think though that from a wider perspective voters give much thought to the plight of very ill people or to the homeless.

Would it be possible Bf, for you to start another thread to just discuss your views. I was really hoping to hear what others think of two excellent interviews, much longer and in more detail than we can find on MSM, with two members of the Labour front bench.

I would rather have no replies than this go instantly off topic. If you could be kind enough to start a thread which covers your area of discussion, others will no doubt join you.

Surely, by now even dyed in the wool Conservatives must be beginning to realise that the party is in severe disarray and needs to go. These are the people who put the con into Conservatism. The referendum was a big mistake followed by numerous examples of wrong decisions, stupid behaviour and jobs for the boys. I must admit that I am unclear about Labour policy too but I have got to the stage of thinking nothing could be worse than the present lot. My two fears about Labour are that I don't want to see a return of New Labour with its watered down Conservative policies or the return of the tiny minority of anti semites. I don't support the Israelis or condone their disgusting behaviour and I certainly don't support Hamas for similar reasons and I see no reason to victimise ordinary people of any race.
