Very sad. I met her several times through Kids Company. She did genuinely care for children/ young adults that nobody else wanted to know about. 😥 It was Sam Fox who introduced me to the charity. I met her through fund raising for MIND. Sam Fox was a a truely wonderful supporter of that charity. Camila and thousands of children were let down badly by David Cameron.
I hadn't seen this and am very sad to hear it. She was badly treated imo, it was something of a witchhunt. She did a lot of good work for hard-to-reach young people who seemed to have been abandoned or let down by mainstream services.
The high court exonerated Batmanghelidjh, and rejected the claim that Kids Company had been mismanaged and charitable funds misspent. The judge praised her for the “enormous dedication she showed to vulnerable young people over many years” and her achievement in building a successful charity that did “incredible work”. . . . The Rev Steve Chalke, founder of the Oasis academy trust, which worked with Batmanghelidjh post-Kids Company, said she had been an inspiration, adding: “In the work she did with traumatised and disadvantaged kids at Oasis, the depth of her wisdom and her sheer love of children shone out.”
We went to an exhibition at the RA. The paintings were all done by very damaged children/ young adults under the wing of Kids Company. Truely upsetting and disturbing.
