Sky news update from the Inquiry...Stephen Bradshaw gave evidence and in a statement from one of the accused Post Office employees who gave the keys to open up to a colleague was allegedly told to get up earlier. ..he was questioned on his use of language but Mr Bradshaw denied this....so shocking..he looked most uncomfortable and another female postmistress was told 'she was telling a pack of lies.'..riveting testimony!

An obnoxious oik if ever I saw one, more suited to collecting debts with menaces.

He makes me feel ashamed to be a Liverpudlian! A very sluippery customer.

He looked as if he had enjoyed being in a position to bully, but he must also have known that he would not be censured for that behaviour by his bosses.

The ultimate ‘little Hitler’.

I reckon that he got away with his obnoxious incompetent behaviour because of the PO culture.

Yes, exactly. I hope he is not going to be made the "fall guy" for the whole toxic organisation

But I hope he faces justice. I have been pondering on what charge he might face … he abused his position to lie (including, it seems, to the court) and bully. There are possibilities.

GSM we can but hope someone serves him some ‘rough’ justice.. displays horrible character..☹️

Unsatisfactory witness: to be disregarded by the learned judge.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 11-Jan-24 17:56:53

Or maybe lying witness, guilty of perjury? We shall see.

I’ve heard chunks of his evidence as I’ve been driving today. He’s a most unpleasant individual. I’m anticipating the Judge concluding he wasn’t a reliable witness.
He’s attempting to say because he isn’t ’technically Minded’ and ‘top brass’ didn’t tell him there was a Fujitsu problem, that ‘lawyers’ wrote his statements and told him to sign them - that non of this scandal is anything to do with him in any way.
Just the kind of witnesses the Court sees through.

From his belligerent presentation I’ve no difficulty believing he bullied post people

Why did he turn up at the enquiry wearing a black shirt which made him look like someone from the mafia? As if what he said wasn’t bad enough.

A weasel, spiv looking character who admitted that the Post Office operated a bonus-per-conviction strategy. His bosses will love him for that - I expect his P45 will be in the post any day soon.

Probably watched "The Godfather" far too many times? About as far from Don Corleone as you can get!

If Stephen Bradshaw is the face of the Post Office they need to take drastic action. It may actually be too late. The damage has already been done.

I hope the Met have him on their shopping list.

I think this is an extreme example of how big organisations treat ordinary people, I'm sure we've all been in the situation where we've been arguing with some big organisation and have been + felt powerless once they decide you're guilty they plough on regardless. I hope it people who have withheld evidence or misled the court will be held to account at some future point so people cannot do as they may have been instructed and misinform court or managers

One postmistress, Shazia Saddiq, said she had received intimidating phone calls from Bradshaw in which he failed to identify himself. She claims he called her a bitch.

Mrs Saddiq said she fled her home with her children “in the night like refugees” after members of the community who thought her a thief lobbed eggs and flour at them.

The children managed to take their teddies with them.

She had multiple post office branches in Newcastle between 2009 and 2016 – when she was terminated – but one of them suffered a cyber attack in 2014 after which more than £30,000 seemingly went missing.

The £30,000 was later found in one of the Post Office's suspense accounts.

Mafia is the right word for those people.

It seems to me that a lot of these people were Asian or women or both. Was there some discrimination going on here?

Well, here's an interesting interview I found flagged up on X/Twitter. This postmaster was in a meeting with 2 PO investigators and 2 representatives from Fujitsu when his Horizon terminal made a transaction right in front of their eyes and no-one had touched it! This was in 2001..
