Trump relied more on his military rather than diplomacy, than almost all previous presidents. He escalated every single military conflict that he inherited.

At no time did he bring “the troops home” nor “end endless wars”.

For example he expanded the USA military intervention in the Yemen.

He risked bringing the USA to the brink of war with Iran with the illegal assassination of an Iranian general.

The world was closer to nuclear war than it had been for years during his tenure.

Closer to home Trump oversaw greater violence in the USA than ever.

Do not be fooled by the propaganda put out by Trump supporters. They will take up weapons quicker than anyone - look at Jan 6 th and he supports them - in fact he intends to pardon those found guilty of insurrection.

I think paradoxically that Putin would not have taken on Ukraine if Trump had been president at that time. Trump is unpredictable and his lunacy kept Putin from acting. Just a thought.

Definitely. I used to go to an Independent Baptist church for many years and they all said they would vote for him , a couple of years or so back. A few of them had family in the USA or were actually visiting from there and working over here.

Putin annexed Crimea under Obama/Biden and invaded Ukraine under Biden. The Middle East was much quieter under Trump (a Nobel Peace prize could have been in the offing). N Korea attended disarmament talks. USA used force four times, two bombing missions to destroy chemical weapons in Syria, the assassination of a top terrorist leader (who was on a mission in foreign country) and one MOAB attack on a giant Taliban underground command centre.

I dont live in the USA and dont know if I would vote for him if I did.

However I would vote for someone on the hard right who would:-

Take a very strong anti immigration line

Stop getting involved in foreign wars

Put our own people first

I find it really hard to understand why any right thinking person would vote for Trump.
I would be interested to hear why they would.
I agree that Biden is far from being the best candidate for the Democrats. He is too old. Why can't they find someone like Antony Blinken to run? Perhaps he simply doesn't want to.

I think it’s important to hear both sides so we can understand all the issues

He looks after the USA. He can communicate with countries like North Korea because he ‘gets’ them. He is not so belligerent as Biden, probably doesn’t have shares in weaponry. He is more energetic, speaks better. Not so likely to start a World War ( that’s a big one ) . For my country he would be far worse ,of course, but for the US - better. You asked. I don’t live there so I am not voting for him anyway so what I think is irrelevant, same as the rest of us. Oh, and he understands and relates to the Baptists.

I keep thinking of an imaginary Mrs Merton interview in which she asks someone ‘ so why would you vote for a misogynistic, racist, tax evading, riot inciting candidate such as Donald Trump’. The very people that he targets votes for him . Someone once told me that people in America depend on the church because they provide the help and social care that the state doesn’t.So I wondered if they supported him because they lose power when there is a more socially aware president? Because I can’t work out a reason why the church should encourage people to vote for him. It’s totally beyond my comprehension.
