What the hell is happening to this country?
Send these scum to Rwanda ASAP.

Totally sick of these violent criminals being allowed to stay here.

Sorry “no right to work” this should read!

Cossy Fri 02-Feb-24 18:29:32

If our govt had effective and efficient departments, particularly the home office, we wouldn’t have so many of the issues we current experience. If they had protected our borders better, like they promised to during “Brexitgate”, then less boats would get across.

Asylum seekers have no recourse to public funds, so cannot get traditional allowances, ie Universal Credit, child benefit, etc etc. they also have right to work. Leave to remain can take over 12 months to process and in some cases many many longer.

I see nothing in the Labour pre manifesto that indicates more migrants or asylum seekers will be admitted to the UK.

More than anything, I hope the mother and her daughters recover, watching the most up to date news shows the daughters may recover well.

I hope they catch this man very soon.

Who are 'these people'

Please don't waste your energy calling me a leftie or woke or suchlike.Or suggesting the crime wasn't utterly abhorrent.

'These people' are just that. People.

I cannot comprehend the level of hatred.

Neither can I, caknib. When you see the viciousness of some of the responses, it becomes obvious how violence happens. There isn’t “bad violence” and “good violence”.

I hope other crazed individuals on seeing that oven cleaner inflicts this type of damage don't go out and buy some!

I know I am probably over reacting, but this product is available everywhere!

woodenspoon Fri 02-Feb-24 18:18:28

That’s good caknib. I don’t think this person is worthy of your empathy somehow.

Elegran, why do you say that the priest must have been aware of this man’s past history? At present we have no evidence whatsoever in that regard. A very plausible explanation is that the lawyers told him that he should say he had converted to Christianity, and told him how to provide evidence of that. They would know that this would preclude a return to Afghanistan. The priest was the fall guy, taken in by these people. I wouldn’t go so far as to suggest that he had been used in this way before, but I trust the full story will emerge in due course. In my opinion the fact that this man’s asylum application was at least in part down to his lawyers and I sincerely hope that the full facts will emerge.

woodenspoon Fri 02-Feb-24 18:08:25

These people are evil. They don’t operate or live by the same laws or codes that we do. Knife crime has escalated in this country since the migrants were allowed in. Fed, clothed, housed at our expense and the country is dangerous and lawless. Another thread talks about life in the sixties. Well I grew up then and up until the 90’s this country was not like it is now. We had to move out of our home town a few years ago because they had taken over. It wasn’t safe. Who wants to live their old age like that. Scared on their own doorstep.

MaizieD we were never a multicultural country. You've got Tony Blaire to thank for this mess. What's happened is a load of cheap labour has been shipped in

What an utterly ridiculous comment! So there were no Indian/Asian/Chinese/Irish/European people in this country before Mr Blair was in power ?? Sorry, big cities in particular, have been multi cultural since just after WW2! Have you forgotten the Windrush Generation??

karmalady Fri 02-Feb-24 18:04:44

yes, good karma GSM, he would not have been able to remove that chemical with water

I am truly hoping that the woman concerned does not have to have her eyes taken out but I think this will happen

Brothers house raided, also police found corrosive liquids in containers.

It has really upset me tbh and is I think a turning point in the uk.

Cossy, your comments are unbelievable. Have you no feelings for these victims.. He should be locked up for ever, in Rwanda or Afghanistan, why should we keep him. I’m sick of politicians who don't have the guts to call out such an act. Just who granted this monster asylum , hope they are named and shamed. How would they feel if ut happened to the, or their family. Stop illegals coming here, we don’t want them, if they destroy their papers, void any hope of settling here.

I’m sorry you feel this way! At no point have I stated anywhere that I agree with this horrific crime nor that this man should have the right to stay.

Perhaps read them all and properly before you comment. I certainly don’t think criminals should be sent to Rwanda! I think he should be detained, tried and sent back to his country of origin. In fact, I’ve stated repeatedly he should never have been granted asylum.

Which of my comments do you find “unbelievable” ?

Perhaps some of you gransnetters should show a bit more empathy and compassion for the poor victims and be less concerned about this man’s nationality and status. He’s an horrible excuse for a human, and I don’t want him in our country anymore than anyone else! By the way, asylum seekers are not “illegals” the manner in which some of them enter is illegal!

I remember a priest being killed by someone he had supported and allowed into his home. That man was home-grown British and mentally ill.

And your point is? I remember a young asylum seeker who was being cared for by an English couple, he went out and planted a bomb on the tube train at Parsons Green. He was not 'home grown' or mentally ill, he was a terrorist.

My point is that there are people in all walks of life risking their own lives to help others who are shunned by the community, following the example of the founder of Christianity, so you can't condemn a priest for doing so even when other priests have been turned on by people they were helping. Anyone professing to be Christian will know that tax collectors were shunned in Jesus time (mostly because of their methods, not their actual unpopular job) but Jesus refused to exclude one. He said "I come not to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance"
The priest who tried to help the acid-thrower must have been aware of his past history, but not that in the future he would make this dreadful attack on the woman and children, and he was probably very plausible in his account of his conversion and repentance. There have been many conversions and repentances on the steps of the scaffold. They are usually welcomed by the priesthood as one more soul saved.

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 02-Feb-24 17:55:26

Absolutely. A very corrosive substance. Is it really essential to be accurate? The end result is probably pretty similar - burning , disfigurement and maybe blindness. Yes, it is a quibble. A very unnecessary one. But by happy coincidence the perpetrator seems to have splashed some of the substance onto his face and one eye. Karma.

It may seem a quibble, and somebody has probably said it already, but it wasn’t acid. It was alkali.

I think it’s important to be accurate.

not just any old alkali. It was oven cleaner, a very powerful alkali designed to stick.

There is an average of over one attack every day in the UK. What I find heartbreaking is that hardly any of the other attacks get any airtime, although they destroy peoples lives in exactly the same way this attack has done. Yes, one attack would have been prevented if this man hadn’t been granted asylum in the UK, but what about the other 400+ that haven’t even hit people s consciousness? Double standards at at work.

I agree, but I fear it suits both our media and our govt to highlight every evil deed carried out by a “foreigner” This was indeed, an evil deed, one amongst many!

Double standards at at work.
That is a non-sequitur.

The level of violence is escalating in this country and knife crime is particularly horrifying. Every violent crime devastated lives.

However, some crimes are so horrific and they
hit the headlines by their very nature.
That does not lessen the impact of the devastation caused by each and every violent crime.

Surely the fact that we do have increasing levels of violent crime in this country, whoever the perpetrator, means we should be even more careful who we grant asylum to?
Giving the right to stay in the UK to a sex offender surely cannot be right?

Mollygo Fri 02-Feb-24 17:20:41

Listening to a programme this morning it was made clear that under the Taliban, converting to Christianity invites a death sentence, so it’s a useful way to avoid being sent back there.

I hope this makes the do gooders realise that the human rights laws to which we are subjected act against the interests of people born in the UK and favour so called asylum seekers. I wholly agree with JenniferEccles, save that I hope we don’t get a left wing government - with Labour I see no hope of stopping the stream of men entering this country whose beliefs are totally alien to ours. The more extreme the measures that are taken to prevent this influx, the better.

This was particularly horrifying, involving a mother and her two young children, and it was filmed. And the man is still at large, so much publicity is given over to it in order to find him. It was bound to hit the national headlines. That doesn’t mean double standards are at work. Others will be reported in the national press, some only in the local press.

Absolutely, I'm sure the local press will report all murders but there are far too many to all make the national press. We have knife crime through the roof, there seems to be at least one every day now. There are no double standards, the crimes are reported according to their severity and circumstances. For instance, the family found dead in a house near Norwich recently made the national news because there were children involved and a query as to why the Police didn't attend the first 999 call from the house. That made it a high profile case. The family were Eastern European but their ethnicity was irrelevant to the awfulness of the crime and whether or not it was reported.

The police are doing really well in tracking Ezedi and giving updates.

I should image this event is a shot in the arm for the Tory Election Campaign but remember the CofHR is always a sticking point. Maybe it's time to override their decisions which seen often to go against common sense and the individual needs of a Sovereign state.

Oh how I wish the law had been changed years ago so that those who tried to enter our country illegally, by dinghy or in the back of a lorry like this monster, should automatically be banned from making an asylum claim and be sent back from where they came from. In other words something similar to what they did in Australia which solved their problem.

Would it have worked though when undoubtedly Left wing Human Rights lawyers would be submitting appeal after appeal, coming up with lie after lie to overturn the eviction.
Look what happened to this one. He failed two appeals until someone came up with the bright idea of him pretending to now be a Christian.
Who on earth fell for that? Was the priest gullible enough or was he so sucked in to the ideology that he went along with it?
We will never know.

The trouble now is that we are virtually certain to get a Left wing government who have absolutely no intention whatsoever of curbing immigration.
