Yes it is reported that catherine , william and the children have joined the king at sandringham
.............................

And, in a clear sign of her improvement, she was able to join her husband, Prince William, and their three children as they set off yesterday morning for a half-term holiday on the Sandringham estate in Norfolk, where the King is also convalescing.

Grantanow I am merely stating the facts, not voicing an opinion.

Private medecine it is no longer something only available to the rich and those with private insurance.

Grantanow Sat 17-Feb-24 23:52:22

I assume MOnica that you are being ironic. Having to beg, borrow or steal to pay for private health care is hardly a wonderful message about our democracy especially as everyone begging, borrowing or stealing has already paid for the NHS in their taxes.

M0nica Sat 17-Feb-24 19:11:22

Grantanow Private medicine these days is very democratic with people beg, borrowing and possibly even stealing to be able to pay for private treatment. You see private treatment being crowd funded, of people taking out loans, or looking to family and friends to help. mostly for consultations and tests.

Private medicine is no longer limited to the well-off.

Choosing private health care is not necessarily a quicker option. I looked at booking an appointment with a local private dermatologist and the first available one is in April so am sticking with the NHS.

I'm not offended by disagreement but I think I should say what I think.

Both my sons have private health insurance through their employers, it seems to be the practice nowadays, and both have recently benefited from that. Certainly my youngest son may well have had to take time off work had he not received speedy treatment, so it works from the employer’s point of view.

Fundamentally I don't accept that any priority should be given on the basis of ability to pay and thereby jump the queue. It's not personal to individual Royals. I'd think better of elite people if they took their turn with the rest of us in queueing, waiting and sometimes dying on the NHS.

Why?

If they have the money and choose to spend it on private health care, private education, so what?

I bet most of us on GN would pay if we could afford it. And why not?

Me too Jaberwok

😲

Really?!

Well, please yourself but I'm thinking of paying for the operations I need, sorry if that offends.

At least someone else would be able to move up the NHS queue.

Jaberwok Fri 16-Feb-24 17:43:40

Exactly, I think a lot of people would think very badly of people who were able to pay, but chose instead to clog up the already massively overloaded NHS. I know I would. Annie,😄!

Germanshepherdsmum Fri 16-Feb-24 17:10:43

Would you not think better of them if they gave up their place in the queue by paying for private treatment? Or would you rather they clog up the queue until they are treated by the NHS or die? Choosing private treatment is not being given priority, it’s taking yourself out of the NHS system altogether and freeing it up for those who can’t, or choose not to, pay.

Anniebach Fri 16-Feb-24 17:05:15

Doubt many would choose death

I think the families of most, if not all Heads of State would have private /priority medical care. A good proportion of wealthy people do the same, footballers, celebrities, industrialists, and so on, so why the pop at Catherine?

henetha Fri 16-Feb-24 11:01:32

Yes Grantanow, I realised I was in the wrong thread after I wrote it.
I suspect that Macron's daughter/son would get priority too.

Grantanow Fri 16-Feb-24 10:00:37

henetha

I don't think any head of state in any country in the world would not be given priority if he/she were ill.
I think it's normal.

She's not a head of state. Heads of state doing the real job like Macron get priority but I don't see much point in giving priority to mere figureheads.

Purplepixie Thu 15-Feb-24 11:15:50

Great news. I hope she recovers quickly.

Calendargirl Thu 15-Feb-24 11:06:09

If she thought the eyes of the world would be on her on her wedding day, which of course they were, I can well imagine why Catherine would want to look her slimmest then.

Her every outfit is scrutinised now, she has to attend various balls, dinners, official functions where it must be so tempting to eat the delicious food on offer.

No wonder she watches what she eats, (I assume, don’t know), and probably works out religiously.

Her job is to support her husband, be a great mum and look the part of a Princess, which she does admirably.

If she looked fat and frumpy, the press would have a field day. Look at the criticism Fergie got- The Duchess Of Pork.

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 15-Feb-24 10:51:53

I remember reading about the diet Sparklefizz. She certainly lost weight but maybe she has continued to restrict the foods she eats, to the detriment of her health.

Sparklefizz Thu 15-Feb-24 10:48:56

This is "thin shaming".
We don't know she "went on a diet" before her wedding.
Her sister is the same build.

Anniebach Thu 15-Feb-24 10:35:27

Certainly much energy after her wedding

Germanshepherdsmum Thu 15-Feb-24 10:33:48

She looked healthier until she went on a diet prior to her wedding.

Callistemon21 Thu 15-Feb-24 10:33:26

My money is on a bowel op- extreme thinness before may point to some kind of malabsorption disorder I thought but I could be wrong often am.

She looked at normal healthy weight to me, your name suggests that you are big so maybe to you she seems thin.

Oh, that is very rude Theexwife!

I suggest you do some research and find out what a Big Bertha is. Hint - golf.
