Murderous, violent killer Scarlet Blake is to be held in a male prison! At last some acknowledgement that putting TW in female prisons is wrong.

I find Scarlett Blake’s crimes loathsome. But I believe trans women are women, and her crimes don’t detract from that

If he’s got his bits he’s a man has he got a womb ?
He’s a man

Jane Fae is a male!
Jeremy Vine spouting about dishonesty in journalism whilst still calling Blake she you can't make it up or can you 🤔?

No you can’t make it up. . . Unfortunately.

Saying a male is a woman is a lie, but Vine could at least have got a female supporter of that lie for his sympathetic guest instead of choosing a person who is part of the lie.

Galaxy Tue 27-Feb-24 16:20:21

Oh my God was it Jane Fae.
'Enjoy your erasure' Jane Fae, any one who wants further info google Jane fae mumsnet it's all there.

I totally agree, his simpering is dreadful.

Iam64 Tue 27-Feb-24 16:18:15

Bridie22 - vine is imo extremely unimpressive and I don’t see why the bbc like him so much

This particular piece was very poor

Did that not consider a cattery? When is someone going to call time on this nonsense.

Callistemon21 Tue 27-Feb-24 15:44:34

one doesn’t have to have physically “transitioned” to be able to call themself male or female
No, of course they don't. But saying it it doesn't make it true.

Iam64 Tue 27-Feb-24 15:24:26

This case was discussed on the JVine show on radio 2 today. His usual format of having one sympathetic one critical guest was followed. The transgender guest, Jane, imo minimised the issues about chosen pronouns as well as where sentences should be served. When Vine summarised the murder, including the death of the cat, Jane responded by agreeing it was dreadful (my words) ‘and you know how I feel about cats Jeremy’ she said
I hope the family of the murdered man didn’t hear this

I live in a city with a variety of prisons. I have known and know many people who have worked in them. We have housed some really grim characters here. My DH has had in his working life to deal with some truly evil people. We have talked about where some would go where we hear sentencing on the television. There are some frighteningly manipulative women prisoners but would not wish any one of them to be sharing a cell with him. All those who still refer to this person as she would just think for a moment how they would feel if a relative ,however distant and criminal, had to share a cell with them.

If a 40 year identified as a 4 year old you wouldn’t say - fine you can go to nursery would you? You’d say - this person has a psychological issue.

It’s very encouraging to see so many common sense posts on here with folk stating biological facts rather than pussyfooting around and calling this man ‘her’

In fact I wish it was the case in the media generally.

👏👏👏

If it's true that this individual sometimes identifies as a cat - is anyone prepared to stand up and say he is a cat?

FGS, we all have our identities - it's a cultural, emotional and mental sense of how we see ourselves. Some take it further than others, but it's still our identity and does not alter basic biology.

vegansrock Tue 27-Feb-24 13:19:55

I agree a he’s biological male so it should be counted as a male crime - why ever not? Surely a criminal doesn’t have the right to choose which set of statistics he’s on? He can call himself what name he likes and wear whatever he likes but he doesn’t get to choose his punishment fgs

Mollygo Tue 27-Feb-24 13:15:40

He is a biological male so he should be imprisoned as one. Why is that an issue?

I don’t think that’s the issue. It’s also how the crime should be reported, both in the press and for statistics.

We can denigrate transgenders all we like
Who is the we you refer to?

Those who criticise Scarlet Blake are not denigrating transgenders.
Denigrate means to criticise unfairly, and any criticism of him and his actions is certainly not unfair.
That he has chosen to impact badly on the public impression of transwomen is unfair, but it is his responsibility-and I don’t think he cares any more about other transwomen than he does about the cat he tortured and the man he murdered.

Scarlet Blake is a male. That his crime was reported initially as being committed by a woman, instead of being reported as a male, is unfair to transwomen.

I get where you are all coming from, however I’m still more concerned that this person is appropriately punished and locked away for the safety of us all irrespective of how they identify. I do take your very valid points though. Given the crime, whether they are in a male ir female prison he will be on a wing with prisoners having committed similar violent crimes. Whole story is just horrific!

I still don't think any female should have to be on the same wing as him. There won't be any women on the wing who have done anything like this man, but regardless, loss of liberty is the punishment. Loss of safety and the last tiny vestige of any dignity shouldn't be an added extra. Why should any woman have to shower alongside this man?

Galaxy Tue 27-Feb-24 12:33:44

They have created a wing or more somewhere, not sure which estate it is housed in.
I do think people arent aware of the fundamental difference between Male and female offending, particularly sexual offending.

Iam64 Tue 27-Feb-24 12:31:29

It’s becoming clear we need wings or prisons that accommodate violent/sex offending trans prisoners

Our women’s prisons are largely full of desperately sad women with awful histories of abuse and exploitation. Most of them don’t need to be incarcerated ‘to keep us safe’. They shouldn’t have to live alongside men like Scarlet

Galaxy Tue 27-Feb-24 12:31:21

It's also a lie. I dont want a society based on lies. I view those who take part in it in exactly the way I view Johnson.

Surely common sense should prevail if he's still got his bits and pieces he's a man, end of.

Regardless of whether he has still got his 'bits and pieces' he remains male. A man who loses his genitalia in an accident for example doesn't magically become a woman. Born male, you'll die male no matter what happens in the intervening years.
