It’s just been announced, Prince Harry has lost his appeal to have armed security provided when he is in Britain.
I’m not surprised.

Ah thanks Glorianny

Well in his position I wouldn't bringing the children for any visits

People really let their hatred cloud their vision at times

Et tu Brute?

It's an unfounded accusation often used by Glorianny.

Smileless2012 Wed 28-Feb-24 20:08:45

Whose expressed hatred Glorianny?

But doesn't that mean he may not be able to visit his own home and family?

He didn't sign up to be royalty

He can pay for private security like other wealthy high profile figures. Or Charles will pay if he wants to see him.

He wants to pay but they cannot be armed. He wants armed security.

I already said he can't.

We all realise that, even if Harry didn't.
[Sigh]

Callistemon21 Wed 28-Feb-24 20:05:19

He wants to pay for it himself but for his security to be able to be armed, as those protecting other members of the RF are

Not allowed here, it is against the law for bodyguards to carry any weapons.

Although it may well be legal in the USA.

No-one hates them, as you keep trying to assert, Glorianny, although they may dislike what they do and be weary of their shenanigans.

He isn't asking anyone to pay for his protection. He wants to pay for it himself but for his security to be able to be armed, as those protecting other members of the RF are.
I think if he doesn't get this he will possibly never bring his children to the UK because he will fear for their safety. I suspect given the level of hatred expressed on GN he might be right, as that surely will be escalated in the general public. Much as you might hate M&H. it seems a great pity to me that something which would ensure the safety of those children cannot be worked out. Then they would be able to safely see their extended family.

They certainly travel, film premiere in Jamaica only to sit in
4th row

Smileless2012 Wed 28-Feb-24 19:51:12

The 'scary time' they claimed to have experienced in New York was a complete fabrication.

He may not have chosen to be royal, but they chose to walk away from their roles and responsibilities as working royals thereby for fitting their right to the protection he now seeks.

Anniebach Wed 28-Feb-24 19:13:59

Anne’s , Andrew’s, Edward’s children didn’t choose to be royal they manage

Rosie51 Wed 28-Feb-24 19:12:27

Anne gets protection for official duties, not when she’s socialising. Edward and Sophie get protection when on official duties not when they’re privately socialising. Charles, Camilla, William and Catherine get protection at all times as King, Queen and heir to the throne. Somehow other Royals manage to see their family. Of course any time Harry and Meghan visit Charles and Camilla they will enjoy the protection that surrounds them.
Of course he could always renounce his title and just be plain Harry whatever surnamehechooses. Of course Hollywood might lose some interest in them at that point.

Not yet!! Maybe tomorrow?

Anniebach Wed 28-Feb-24 18:31:05

Is Harry running for president?

This court case he has just lost has apparently cost the Home Office over £400,000 according to Freedom of Information.
He makes me really annoyed. Talk about entitled …

Does he not have to pay their expenses?
If not, why not?

Security is for working members of the Royal Family and for most, only when they are carrying out official functions.

Harry can pay for his own security when he comes here if he wishes, but, as already said, they will not be armed.

He has referenced the scary time he said he, Meghan and his MIL endured in New York. We cannot provide security for a non-working member of the Royal Family in other countries, certainly not armed security. What would be the fall-out if an armed member of the Royal Protection Group shot someone on foreign soil?

He really doesn't think things through.

On reflection, though, if I have to choose, give me Harry and Meghan over Trump 😁

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 28-Feb-24 18:07:11

He can afford private security Grantanow, but they can’t carry firearms, unlike the police who protect working royals and bodyguards in the US. He bleats about not being able to bring his family to the UK because of this. Tough.

Grantanow Wed 28-Feb-24 18:02:22

He is considering appealing so further waste of taxpayers' money defending against him. He's a scrounger.

pascal30 Wed 28-Feb-24 17:13:47

He lost his appeal to me years ago...

Anniebach Wed 28-Feb-24 16:40:12

And he will appeal

Labradora Wed 28-Feb-24 13:59:37

The article that I referred to in my earlier post made the point that private security costs increase when someone travels , which is common sense when you think about it as presumably they will have to pay their guards' air fares and hotel bills as well as their own.

When he visited the UK recently didn't the British Police escort him to and from the airport?

Yes, and they will still do that I understand.

Joseann Wed 28-Feb-24 13:47:37

I'm sure he will get the appropriate amount of security provided while engaging with any of the working royals, so what's the problem? I guess he wants the full works while socialising with his mates at Soho Farmhouse or at a Jessie J concert.
If he has any mates left, that is?
