It’s just been announced, Prince Harry has lost his appeal to have armed security provided when he is in Britain.
I’m not surprised.

Do marriages break down only if a third person is involved

Mollygo Sat 02-Mar-24 21:26:32

And Fayed wasn't involved in the breakdown of the marriage.
Another piece of insider knowledge?
I don’t know how far back and with whom Diana’s affairs were exposed.

Anniebach

Harry was 13 and in boarding school when his mother was
photographed snuggling up to Fayed

Yes and "They fuck you up, your mum and dad"
But she's dead so unable to correct or try to compensate for any mistakes she made.
And Fayed wasn't involved in the breakdown of the marriage.

Glorianny
I see the actual point has once again got lost in trying to pick holes in my post.

I wouldn’t know about your actual point Glorianny.
Not being able or willing to imply that I know anything about the RF, as you and your herd seem to do.

Excellent!
We’re back to some people.🤣🤣🤣

Is that a song or another Larkin poem?

Oh yes, it's Cliff! Similar sentiments to the Larking poem though grin

Oh OK I thought it was obvious, but if you have to have it spelled out for you-"some people can't" = Charles can't.

William may be OK (possibly better protected by the RF PR machine). He may not.
One brother obviously having problems does not mean the other is fine.

The poor boy has to earn his own living now, he has to make the best of the few resources he has.

AlwaysSmiling Sat 02-Mar-24 15:16:34

I am glad he was refused it. Why should we taxpayers pay for his security when he is a multi millionaire, he does nothing for anyone but expects a handout. He should pay for it himself like all the so called celebrities have to do.

Harry makes money by seemingly not accepting the truth

Jaberwok Sat 02-Mar-24 15:11:32

Callistemon21. 😄😄 I regularly have the same problem!

Callistemon21 Sat 02-Mar-24 15:07:48

Larkin.

Bluddy autocorrect.

Sadly lots of people have less than ideal childhoods, it doesn't mean they have to be less than ideal adults.

Jaberwok Sat 02-Mar-24 14:40:40

'They fuck you up, your Mum and Dad etc', is part of 'This be the verse,' by Phillip Larkin. My personal experience is that they don't, but that's just my experience. I can't speak for other people. Diana also had many affairs and broke up at least three marriages. The royal marriage was a huge mistake and caused much unhappiness for both partys. A fact Prince William as an adult has accepted. Prince Harry as a stunted adult seemingly cannot.

^They fuck you up your mum and dad,^
They may not mean to but they do

Are you quoting generally, from inside knowledge of the Royal Family or personal experience, Glorianny?

If I'm meant to be disturbed by that you have missed your mark Callistemon21 I have occasionally written about the problems of growing up with a bi-polar (then called manic-depressive) father and the awful treatment he received. It necessarily affected all of us.
As for my own kids they'd probably say "Oh yes" then give me a hug and say I did my best.
That's all you can do.
But sometimes that best requires putting the kids first.
Some people can't do that.

Harry has a great sense of entitlement.
I remember him telling Oprah that his father had stopped giving him money. He was bitter, resentful and quite surprised shock. How many middle-aged men are still financially supported by daddy? I would have been highly embarrassed if my son had expected that.

In the days when H&M lived in Canada and Harry used to phone Charles, Charles was reported as saying that Harry treated him "like a bank" and that he stopped taking his calls because they were all about asking for money.

😂
They could take their own golden potties to school, complete with royal logos.

M0nica Sat 02-Mar-24 14:09:37

Part of a snowflake generation who want their cake and eat it.

I wonder whether their children will be potty trained before they start school.

Ali08 Sat 02-Mar-24 11:22:40

I am sure his darling wife could afford to pay for any bodyguards he needs when travelling!!
They CHOSE to leave the RF, so why should they expect any of the benefits?!

It was me who started the thread Calkistemon.
I think I’d better go to the doghouse grin

I thought that PH had lost his appeal was interesting, but I didn’t think the thread would run to ten pages and be discussing the health of the king and Catherine.
I should have known by now grin

Yes I know, maddyone

An unintentional pun, I think 😂

Whatever the situation with Harry, there are more important issues than him going on.He’s no longer important and I wish he’d realise how little importance he has now and with the royal family struggling with heath issues, the war in Ukraine and it’s potential for terrible consequences, and the war in Gaza with the ensuing unrest on our streets, I think Harry is now unimportant and of no consequence. The situation re his children and their grandparents is extremely sad, but not different to thousands of estranged grandchildren the world over.

Hear hear.

I must admit, ever time I log on and see the heading of this thread in the list it makes me 😂
sometimes it is better to leave it!

No, keep it going just for the heading 😂
