It’s just been announced, Prince Harry has lost his appeal to have armed security provided when he is in Britain.
I’m not surprised.

Harry spoke of the welcome Megan received from his family,

Meghan has previously opened up on what it was like to spend Christmas with the Firm, and said: "I remember so vividly the first Christmas at Sandringham, calling my mom, and she's like 'How's it going?' and I said 'Oh my gosh it’s amazing'. It's just like a big family like I always wanted. And there was just this constant movement and energy and fun."

Prince Harry also previously gushed about their first Christmas together, when he took over BBC Radio 4 for a special show in December 2017.

"The family loved having her there”, he said. “There's always that family part of Christmas [where] there's always that work element there as well, and I think together we had an amazing time. We had great fun staying with my brother and sister-in-law and running round with the kids. Christmas was fantastic."

Asked whether there were any family traditions he had to explain to Meghan before their first Christmas, he said: “Oh plenty, I think we've got one of the biggest families that I know of, and every family is complex as well. No look, she's done an absolutely amazing job. She's getting in there and it’s the family I suppose that she's never had."‌

I think sometimes families seem welcoming, but most people know that things change and once the initial welcome has passed the real attitudes emerge.

Married May 2018, first baby May 2019, in that year- the King and The Princess of Wales questioned the colour of the baby’s
skin, Megan’s passport was taken from her, she still managed to fly to America for a baby shower , she was suicidal, no one asked her if she was ok.

Harry has said the first time she went to Althorp to visit the grave she communicated with Diana, Harry said Megan had photographs in the Labour ward when she give birth .

But she has family. She just didn’t seem to get on with them.

Harry and Meghan and family were invited frequently to Britain by the late Queen; they could have accompanied their parents to this country when Harry arrived for his court appearances and the Coronation. They are unlikely 'to feel as much at home (in Britain) as where they live at the moment in the US' as Harry apparently desires unless they visit regularly.

Are you trying. To win the prize for the longest post?
If you can’t tell the difference between hate and dislike, I hope you aren’t teaching prefixes and word meanings to children.

My daughters were 5 and 7 when their much love daddy died very suddenly, definitely no anger

I’m thinking more in terms of teenage boys. But both my DIL and SIL have never really got over the loss of their mothers.

I think Charles has a lot more on his mind at the moment than seeing his GC over in the USA.

His own health, for a start.

I feel utter contempt for Harry's actions, the worst ones being his deliberate and sustained attempts to frustrate his late grandmother and his father from seeing his children.
One of the worst aspects of people who choose to estrange themselves from their family.

His witness statement to the court bemoans the fact that 'The UK is central to the heritage of my children and a place I want them to feel at much as home as where they live at the moment in the US. That cannot happen if it's not possible to keep them safe when they are on UK soil.'

This apparently cannot happen unless they have constant taxpayer-funded police protection .
Do the Tindalls have this, the children of Peter Phillips and the Duke of York?

How is he stopping his father from seeing his children?
They live a sheltered life in the US but I am sure Charles. could see them if he wanted to. H won't bring them here of course because of a lack of security. Should he put them at risk?

VioletSky Maybe the onus should be on those who do not think highly of them to prove they aren't hated because that's not my experience and I doubt it is theirs

I do not have to prove anything , I dislike liars, people who cause hurt to others, dislike is not hate, obviously you experience hate

^Frankly I'm just bewildered by Harry^.

Yes, no hate at all, just bewildered by the change in him..

I think he’s a very troubled person. My heart bled for both boys when they lost their mother, especially with William being the same age as my son. And people I know that have lost parents or siblings at such a young age do seem to carry that grief and often anger with them throughout their life. But I don’t understand what seems to be a need in him to inflict pain on others.I disliked Camilla immensely for a long time but now respect her for how strong and supportive she is being now. It’s all very puzzling.

Jaberwok your post sums up the situation perfectly. I think that's how most of us feel, we just cant understand why he's done and said the things he has. It was all so unnecessary, and so at odds with the person we believed him to be.

I too totally agree that had they left the RF for a more private and freer life abroad, that would have been perfectly understandable and acceptable. They had plenty of money with the expectation of more inheritance, to live comfortably for the rest of their lives and remain on good terms with their family and the public I think what people cannot understand, me amongst them, is why they felt it necessary to make yet more money by trashing Harry's family, this country and the Commonwealth? Why would you do that? The late Queen gave them a whole year to make up their minds as to what they actually did want, Pa gave them a substantial sum to keep them during that year, so what's their problem? For me it's incomprehensible, on the world stage, to be so spiteful, bordering on cruel particularly to your very elderly grandparents, who loved you, your SIL whom you purported to love, your brother whom you were extremely close to, to the extent of betrayal and possible destruction. Even the Duke of Windsor didn't do his best to destroy the RF. Once he'd gone he never ever attacked them personally. Frankly I'm just bewildered by Harry.

Smileless2012 Thu 29-Feb-24 13:54:01

When you see photo's of H with W and K it reminds you of how close they once were. W & K must be heartbroken at such a public betrayal sad.

Good

Joseann Thu 29-Feb-24 12:53:33

Indeed, Callistemon. IF Harry had said, "we're off to take some time out because it's all getting too much for us", and stuck to that, people would have understood. The problemn is, he wasn't gone more than 5 minutes than up he pops with that damaging interview. I think it was possibly all planned.

It's up to them what they do, a difficult decision for Harry to make but if he felt it was the right one, fair enough.

Once the decision was made then there was no need for all the books, Oprah interview and angst they have both caused since. They had plenty of money, could have had a good life without all the publicity which they said they were trying to get away from but have since sought relentlessly. 🤔

The Duchess of Kent decided to withdraw from public life. Have we heard much of her since?

A dignified silence is the best policy if anyone is trying to avoid press attention.

Says it all very well.

Also I made a good point didn't I? Lol

No, but it obviously makes you feel good, so keep on believing.

I don’t think H & M are hated by posters on GN

From what I have read most think it is extremely unreasonable to leave the firm but still expect all the perks of the job.
