Kate Hoey has always tended to veer towards extremism. As I’ve said before, sometimes the very far left tends to join up with the very far right. She’s also been known to change her mind dramatically on quite important issues.

It isn't difficult to understand if no party will roundly condemn the slaughter and deliberate cleansing of a population then people will vote for the person who does. It shows how widespread the concern about Gaza is. It crosses religious and political boundaries.

I can only assume that those who voted for this vile specimen of a man had no knowledge of his contacts with mass murders (Sadam Hussein, Hamas etc.,) and were willing to endorse a misogynistic anti-Semite.

He is an anti-establishment one trick pony, I heard on the news this morning that he has never been re-elected in his two previous constituencies, so being a useless MP can also be added to his despicable CV.

He has no idea what he really stands for, has he.
He goes from party to party, jumping on the latest populist bandwagon, strutting into Parliament and taking the Oath of Allegiance, meaningless words to him.
His only allegiance is to himself, his self-publicity and the money he can make, certainly not to his constituents.

The problem is that people know so little history and/or only remember the bits that suit the, -Saddam Hussein supported and brought to power through American influence, because they thought he would provide a buffer against Iran. In fact he did wage war with Iran, used chemical weapons and killed thousands. Then the west fell out with him. But at one point a lot of people were friendly with him.
The Middle east is partly such a mess because of western (and particularly US) interference

Since Julian Assange has been dragged into this Galloway issue, perhaps the several articles written by Patrick Cockburn - a highly respected journalist - give another view from that usually put forward regarding Assange. The general public have, I believe, forgotten about why the US want to extradite him. As Cockburn says "His case should terrify any investigative journalist publishing news that the Government does not want the public to know."

To those who challenged my statement re Cyril Smith, I`m well aware of what he was found to have done, and am as disgusted as anyone else. However, my memories go back to the 1950s, when he was a favourite visitor to all our school functions. As to his time in Parliament, he always had the welfare of Rochdale at heart. I did not mean to upset or offend anyone, if I did, I`m sorry.
