George Galloway is the MP for Rochdale

He did refer to some local issues but his campaign was about Palestine-Israel. His win was resounding and his victory speech focussed on telling Keir Starmer his stance on Gaza is a major problem for Labour. Galloway’s latest party is called the the workers party, I think. Will they put up candidates in other northern former mill towns with large communities of people of Muslim fairy? (like my town)

I agree with this statement. There sometimes seems to be, on these threads, an inability to understand that Jewish people are individuals, with differing opinions on all sort of matters.

p.s. I thought the water cannons were just too big for London streets and were a waste of money.

Galloway says he isn’t racist, he worked underground against
apartheid in South Africa with Mandela, but if underground who would know

Well I for one wish we’d kept Boris’ water cannons (like France).
Handy in some situations.

Fortunately France has had the sense to ban all pro-Palestine marches.

They sure did, and a good move on the part of the French government, they knew how divisive it would be and the trouble it could cause.

Sorry MazieD I need to learn properly how to frame previous posters comments properly! I put quotes round the first post but forgot to put the last quote!

My whole response starts…. You cannot just end a subject….. and finishes at the very end of all the paragraphs afterwards!

I’ll do better grin

Cossy I’ve had to give up on reading your comments as I can’t tell who said what and so on.
By using quotes, that’s not quotation marks, you need to click or touch on the quote function which you’ll find to the far left of your user name, it then appears in a box and you can then reply to it, just as I’ve done here.

Change view yet again

I discounted a photograph posted by you Glorianny I saw a video of Rachel Reeves being harassed by at least 3 Muslim women and a photographer, I checked the truth of it, you saw one woman on her own, !

I saw a group of Muslim women one of whom followed Rachel Reeves. You have absolutely no evidence that the others did so. You assume they did because they are wearing the hijab. That's real prejudice.

The small fringe group in the photograph aren’t at all representative of the many Jewish people living in the UK. They’re also not representative of the many other Jewish people who march for ceasefire/

Oh I agree. The interesting thing being that although I have seen many photographs from the marches of groups of Jewish people it is difficult to find them on the internet.
I do however think that those who post about Jewish people, think they speak for them, and accuse demonstrators of anti-semitism, have little real knowledge of the differences and range of views within Judaism, and that itself is discriminatory.

Weirdly Galloway seems to speak as much to the far right as to the far left.

He has shared platforms with Steve Bannon, Nigel Farage and actually voted Tory in 2021! He supports authoritarian dictatorships, like Hussain Iraq and Syria.

Griffiths of the BNP supports him (although Galloway likes to deny it).

So it really shouldn’t be surprising that Reform see him as a potential candidate.

Exactly! This is the point I tried to make earlier (perhaps clumsily), that the extreme right and extreme left are very like each other. And similarly repellent.

It is not evidence

What is the word for discounting or ignoring the opinions of Jews?? Don't tell me I'll get it! Oh Yes, anti-semitism

Sussexborn Sat 02-Mar-24 12:51:56

Just when you think politics can’t sink any lower that egotistical self serving pussy food eating crass individual turns up.

Anniebach Sat 02-Mar-24 12:47:31

Only those who join marches want a ceasefire ?

Cossy Sat 02-Mar-24 12:35:32

“”Anniebach

Why is it not evidence Anniebach that SOME Jewish people also wish to see a ceasefire? Does it matter where in the world they are? There are protests all over the world?

Glorianny at least one of the photos is not in the U.K. so totally irrelevant to the marches in London.

(You can tell by the traffic lights)

It is evidence that all Jews do not support Israel and some support the state of Palestine. I take it no one imagines that there are only Jews in the UK?

Let's agree to disagree then I personally think they are. End of subject as far as I'm concerned.”

You cannot just end a subject because you don’t like being challenged, even with evidence. Because you disagree with something doesn’t make you right and everyone else wrong!

It’s laughable to think if Johnson was still Mayor of London all would be rosy! He would have bankrupted the City, (garden bridge, water cannons), insulted Muslims (letterboxes), and inflamed many situations. Johnson has proven time and time again to be a narcissistic liar, in both his professional and personal life! Why on earth would anyone want him in charge of anything?

Are you so blinkered with your right wing beliefs you cannot see what a mess the Tory’s have made in the last 14 years?

Starmer certainly doesn’t hate Jews, it’s my understanding he is married to one!

Targeting any one group of people, for whatever reason (terrorist grouped aside), is discrimination and should be stopped.

Cossy

Sorry, but your posts are difficult to read.

Who posted what?

Times…..John Curtis.

Three in ten people in Rochdale now identify as Muslim.
Rochdale has exposed some of Starmer’s potential vulnerabilities, but they are not the ones the Conservatives appear able to exploit. Labour has to hope that Galloway’s ability to do so is indeed unique.

Anniebach Sat 02-Mar-24 11:08:58

If true cameras would have honed in at the time of the march
