Iris Appel has died at the age of 102.

In an interview Iris Apfel said that it was completely wrong to say you could have it all. She had had a busy and eventful life, her career and the family business to run and she and her husband travelled a lot. All this meant that having a family as well was not possible, so they made a choice.

To my shame, I've g get heard of this lady, but she does look quite? extraordinary! You could be right about the lack of children!! Mind you perhaps they just didn't happen... My mother remarried and I was 4 and sadly she didn't have any more children. They certainly wanted them, but it wasn't to be.

However I admired her for ‘doing it her way’.

It is not a question of whether one admired her style, but she counted and was someone who had a presence and views and opinions to the end and was never disregarded as most old women are.

Frankly her style doesn’t appeal at all but I admire her spirit although she didn’t really feature for me I think the glasses are very comedic and not a look I d go for but she sounds a game old girl and her age was pretty incredible

I thought she was great. I've got one of the necklaces she designed for H&M a couple of years ago.

Not every childless couple are childess by choice. I have always felt that she was one of these people, who would have made a big impression on the world whther she had a family or not.

Plus living a very long life.

She was fabulous! And yes, Urmstongran, they do look like such an amazing couple. I love her flamboyant sense of style and how she did things her own way. RIP Iris.

Married 67 years, Carl died on August 1, 2015, aged 100. Don’t they just look an amazing couple? No kids. A joy of life with chutzpah. This photo is sweet. I think they look a fun couple to be around.

Very interesting! She certainly stood out.
I think the spex were her trademark. Mind you the lipstick came a close second! Certainly flamboyant.
