Is there anyone who still thinks that Israel's actions in Gaza are justifiable?

The photograph of a child fleeing during the Vietnam war was posted here, how it affect the world. Hamas certainly got the world supporting them they have played the child card from the start of the war.

I fear you are right Candelle. Hamas has now received a lot of support because people conveniently forget that they are a brutal, medieval sect. Unfortunately killing all these civilians has played right into their grubby hands so they have people marching around with flags supporting them. Do these people realise how they would treat women, homosexuals, anyone who disagrees with them should they ‘win’ and destroy Israel?

How could Hamas have been attacked differently from the way they were?

Negotiate with whom? Hamas, negotiate?!

I repeat that the world has attacked Israel with words but why not the other arenas of conflict where more have died and continue to do so?

Hamas were riddled throughout the cities of Palestine, underneath it, in hospitals and schools, heavily armed and intent on killing.

Hamas spared no thought or planning for their actions for their people. They knew full well what would happen but gambled that the world would pity their people, which is exactly what happened and the Palestinian death toll was worth their action.

Hamas did not want to negotiate, they were ready to go.

I cannot understand why posters have heaped criticism on Israel's policy of trying to kill those who have and will kill them.

I also feel that it is just not understood that Israel is a bastion of western democratic civilization and if it falls to the mighty powers that surround them they will not go quietly - the motto: 'never again'. If Israel goes, I dread to think what will follow.

What happened on 7th October last year was medieval barbarity, murdering babies and children as well as adults in a tortuous prolonged way and taking others hostage.

I don't know what is in the minds of these people and hope I never know.

I think many have lost sight of that with what has happened since.

And the wests reaction to 9/11 achieved absolutely nothing other than making it worse for innocent people living in Iraq and Afghanistan. I’m not saying that 9/11 should have been ignored but some battles can’t be fought with weapons alone.

Annie, I feel sure that the Israeli soldiers fighting in Gaza will be motivated by revenge. They will have had members of their own families, their friends, or the families of people they know, or friends of people they know, murdered in a bestial and medieval manner, that defies imagination. I’m sure that must motivate these soldiers, who are mostly young and just beginning their adult lives. They will have been brought up being told to be aware of their surroundings because of the frequent terrorist attacks, they have been raised knowing that when the rockets are sent over from Gaza daily, they must run quickly to their safe rooms, and like my grandchildren in New Zealand have to participate in earthquake drills every term, and children at schools in Britain have to participate in fire drills every term, Israeli children will be used to participating in terrorism drills each term. The barbaric attack on 7/10 did not come out of nowhere, Israelis live with fear and the knowledge that they are hated every day. And the hatred goes farther than Israel. Antisemitic attacks are now commonplace in theUK and elsewhere. My Jewish friends in America are afraid and feel that the world is now becoming more like the situation for Jews was before WW2.
Jewish people are afraid. They see the support for the Palestinians and the hatred for themselves. Of course those nearest to it, living in Israel, whose children are fighting in Gaza, and those who are doing the fighting, are all afraid, and most probably motivated by a sense of revenge, rightly or wrongly. That is the situation as I see it from the other side.

Over 200 thousand civilians died during the Iraq war.

Candelle You didn't directly address this to me but I will answer, Netanyahu should have read Biden's message and taken note of what he said but he didn't. Suella Braverman has said she "strongly rebuts" the suggestion that Israel is breaching international law in its war with Hamas, or that it is committing genocide in Gaza.

It was the only news on the Israel/Gaza situation we could get in New Zealand. We recognised it was extremely biased, but we watched it every day just to get whatever news we could. We were in a rental and the TV coverage was basic and we never bought newspapers because we were busy doing childcare. We also got a bit of news online. We only ever saw one Palestinian protest out there too. There were a few people with flags, but no disruption. We drove past them as they were on the pavement. Traffic wasn’t stopped.
