Good Morning Thursday 7th May 2026
I think someone got out of the wrong side of the bed
News flash just now but she says she feels really well and she looks it.
Starting chemo soon. The abdominal surgery found cancer.

There wouldn’t have been a media frenzy if it wasn’t for the fake photo and the lookalikes going walkabouts.
Yes, let's punish her, right?
You're wrong anyway - the media frenzy started the moment it was announced that she would be undergoing surgery.
... and Catherine had the effrontery not to tell a prurient media and public the intimate details of it. Wanting to keep it from her children until they broke up from school.
How very dare she!
Your kind of comment makes me really angry - and I'm a Republican!

Personally, I would have told everyone what operation I was having, also I would not have edited the photograph. Also by saying, what sort of cancer she has, may have helped other women & the cancer charities raise more money
Maybe you would.
But you're not the future Queen.l
And I don't think you have 3 very young children.
She wanted to tell the children when they broke up from school, which is what she did.
Poor William has so much on his plate with his wife and father ill. I hope they make a speedy recovery and that things get easier for them all soon.

And so it's started already. Having had weeks of frantic speculation as to why Catherine had disappeared from public view, we now have armchair experts telling us what she should have done. She should have revealed to the public exactly where her cancer is. Never mind that she might need some privacy whilst her and her family come to terms with it all: No, she should tell us all EVERYTHING; satisfy our prurient curiosity so that we can dissect it and criticise it further. She shouldn't have altered her own photos, despite having already explained why she did it. And, even though the poor woman is still trying to wrap her head around what's happening to her, she should be thinking of the money her situation can raise for charity. What anyone else would do in her situation is up to them but for God's sake, leave her to make her own decisions without you performing a post mortem on what she's doing wrong and how much better you'd handle it. Should be ashamed.Well said PuddyCat.

*The other thread was mine and I requested it be deleted as it was posted within a minute of this one so duplicate*
Thank you for that lemsip. Our posts just now must have crossed!
I will await an apology from Callistemon21. 😉I'm confused.
I said the other thread was deleted presumably at the OP's request as that is what lemsip said she would ask GNHQ to do.
Not referring to your thread, Primrose and yours was started first.
So I have no need to apologise.
Anyway, that is a distraction.
Thank you. No apology necessary as I misread it.

To Lemsip and Primrose. I was sorry your thread was removed and I did not find it offensive in any way. I did request that a post on this thread was removed because of the offensive terms used but last time I looked it was still in place. It has been referred to several times by other posters confused by the actual meaning, which according to a link provided is extremely crude.
* It Seems as though My OP wasn't removed quick enough by GN. so people has posted on it. sorry but Not my fault....I requested within a minute of putting it up*
Such saddening news.
All our best wishes for a speedy recovery.

Why would you tell everyone?
Anyway, some prefer to keep their medical information private - as is their right - a right that Catherine also has.
Neither is she obliged to go into detail in order to raise more money for cancer charities. That's another right we all have.
... and, you know, some of us are content with the simple statement that she's undergoing surgery... we're not all idly curious to know the minutiae of her condition.
What is more I suspect that if all those criticising the princess, lived in a fish bowl as she does and had medical problems like hers, they would all be running around like headless chickens and moaning and groaaning and complaining about intrusion into their private lives.
Well said PuddyCat.

Seriously, if you think all comment is going to be dropped in the media, forget it. It will be revisited time and time again, but let’s set an example on GN and not comment, I’m certainly not going to.

Really? And yet on this forum you, like the rest of us, use an anonymous user name so as not to identify yourself to the world and his wife. Why should she share intimate details of the type of surgery and cancer she has? Would you be happy for your GP practice to put up a sheet with your name address and photo with your medical history itemised?
You might well have but you do not live your life in the public gaze with every single thing you say, do and wear subject to scrutiny and public comment by every Tom Dick Harry or nosey Nora.
Some of the trolling, "banter" , mud slinging (eg cosmetic surgery gone wrong) scandal mongering and innuendos must have been incredibly intrusive and hurtful not only to C and W, but their parents and their children.
It's easy to say what you might have done, but you are not them and frankly I doubt whether you would have published your medical details eg in your local paper to be picked over and gossiped about.

Been down her route so know it can be very hard and upset me. I truly wish her well and good health for the future.
At this moment, I am thinking of Carol - as a mother of 3 children , and grandmother to 6, who at various times had ‘scares’, you wish that you could take the problems on yourself. Fortunately for me , all turned out well. I hope they all have the strength to climb this mountain, as her brother James has said. It’s agony for the parents - hope it all works out well for them.

There is nothing wrong with this thread, but a couple of the individual posts are offensive. I would have preferred that the other thread concerning the Princess of Wales had continued but the entire thread was deleted, not sure why.
I see nothing wrong with the thread either. I can’t remember seeing anything offensive either. I admit I was surprised to see someone say this thread should not be for GNs to share their similar stories which I thought was a rather bizarre thing to say as everybody is shocked and saddened by the news. But even that did not offend me.
It would be quite ridiculous to remove the thread because. It is wall to wall coverage the world over.
Everybody seems to be

'Sharing' these stories is what makes us human. Catherine, I'm fairly sure, would acknowledge that.
So many people are now living with cancer (I'm one of them) and their experiences can often encourage and comfort, and ease that sense of isolation one might feel after such a diagnosis. I see nothing wrong in GNs contributing their stories.

i have asked for this thread to be deleted out of respect for Catherine and William.
in my report I stated that I don't suppose it will be. maybe others with any feeling should ask the same.
this is the reply from gn.

I admire her dignity in making such a calm measured statement. Now leave her and the family to go through the treatment programme in the hope that all goes well.
