News flash just now but she says she feels really well and she looks it.

Starting chemo soon. The abdominal surgery found cancer.

Felt so sorry for her as I would anyone going through what she’s going through.hope the press leave her be now.

A cancer diagnosis is devastating for anyone. However, most of us are allowed to get on with surgery, treatment, with the support of our loved ones, without all the press and media intrusion.

I hoped the Princess of Wales won't be pressurised to get back to work, to issue photographs to show her progress and that she can have some peace and quiet to recover. I hope the children will be left alone too, it must be a frightening time for them.

Thank you for that lemsip. Our posts just now must have crossed!

I will await an apology from Callistemon21. 😉

I'm confused.

I said the other thread was deleted presumably at the OP's request as that is what lemsip said she would ask GNHQ to do.
Not referring to your thread, Primrose and yours was started first.

So I have no need to apologise.

Anyway, that is a distraction.

I think that all those newspapers that printed vile things about her should be boycotted the way The Sun is in Liverpool….angry

I think they should each make a large donation to a cancer charity.

There is nothing wrong with this thread, but a couple of the individual posts are offensive. I would have preferred that the other thread concerning the Princess of Wales had continued but the entire thread was deleted, not sure why.

I see nothing wrong with the thread either. I can’t remember seeing anything offensive either. I admit I was surprised to see someone say this thread should not be for GNs to share their similar stories which I thought was a rather bizarre thing to say as everybody is shocked and saddened by the news. But even that did not offend me.

It would be quite ridiculous to remove the thread because. It is wall to wall coverage the world over.

Everybody seems to be

Deleted as a duplicate thread, possibly at the OP's request.

“Possibly at the OP’s request”?

Most definitely not! All I asked for was them to remove the words “chemo starting soon” from the title as someone appeared to be offended by it, even though as Kate said herself “I am at the early stages of chemo”.

I have apologised if it offended anyone and can do no more. A couple of people have pointed out that her post was harsh and unnecessary as it was a genuine mistake.

I suspect many on here have had to deal with hearing the same news Catherine has had to process. Or have members of their own family who are still dealing with it.

I've had the diagnosis - twice.

Heartfelt sympathy and best wishes to everyone dealing with this, and particularly Catherine who, unlike us, has to cope with public scrutiny.

As well as sympathy for the Princess, also spare a thought for her mother who must have known the truth for some time now. Imagine having to listen to the toxic speculation and keeping this heartbreaking secret to yourself. Then imagine watching your daughter sitting in front of the cameras and revealing to the world what, for any ordinary family, would be their own business and of no salacious interest to anyone else.

Yes, goodness knows how her poor parents must be feeling, as well as her sister and brother.
They must want to throw a protective shield around her.

How very sad. I wish her a speedy recovery.

Still doesn’t change the fact that KP really screwed the pooch with the pr disaster they managed. Sweeping that under the rug sets a dangerous precedent for the future.

I don't understand your phrase 'screwed the pooch'
Can you explain?

Apologies if this has already been explained - I don't have time to read all the posts - it means that you have made a big / serious / embarrassing / whatever - mistake.

... one which, IMO, has been much over-hyped.

I did like the observation made by the BBC's royal correspondent (online)... "That creaking is the sound of a lot of necks being wound back in".

Unfortunately, I believe it's only temporary, the over-inquisitive are seldom satisfied until they have all the details.

I heartily agree with all the sympathetic, caring posts on here. Obviously some people have never had to deal with any serious health issues in their own or close family,s lives. I,too hope they all feel totally ashamed and embarrassed at their speculations. The tabloid press, too should hang their heads in shame! The only thing left to say is to echo others in wishing Catherine well and sincere hopes that the treatment is 100%successful.

Agree 100%

Wishing her a complete recovery. I felt very moved by her quiet dignity yesterday, feeling that she had been forced into making a statement whilst recovering to quel all the swirling rumours. Very hard for both Catherine and William dealing with her illness, endless speculation and trolling whilst simultaneously trying to reassure and shield their children.

I think the main reason for her having to make the announcement is it seems that her records have been accessed and offered to American media so she had no choice if this is true. My heart goes out to her, I know when I was diagnosed I only wanted close family to know and my daughter-in-law who was diagnosed last May was the same. I also feel for Prince William who must live in dread of his children losing their mother at an early age as he did. I will never forget how utterly devastated our son was when he came to tell us about our DIL’s diagnosis, we were able to put our arms around him and comfort him, I know William is close to the Middleton family but he must yearn for the comfort of his mother at a time like this.

the likes of Owen Jones, Kim Kardashian and others should go away and hang their heads in shame

They're much closer to home than these 👆

TerriBull Sat 23-Mar-24 11:07:41

Maybe those who are of the opinion that our royal family are scroungers living the life of Riley, might consider a life the y are born into, has massive downsides. They can't even be ill in peace without endless speculation, snide comments and even those who would want to access their private medical records. Catherine has acted with courage and dignity and has risen above all the social media crap, yes the likes of Owen Jones, Kim Kardashian and others should go away and hang their heads in shame, maybe consider what it is they think they bring to the world compared to Catherine who actually brings some joy to people rather than disgust.

Kate1949 Sat 23-Mar-24 11:05:56

I'm not sure why this thread needs to be deleted. It's people expressing their concern and good wishes to Catherine. She said in her statement that the good wishes mean a lot to her. I know she won't see this, but I can't see the harm.

i have asked for this thread to be deleted out of respect for Catherine and William.

in my report I stated that I don't suppose it will be. maybe others with any feeling should ask the same.

It's the other threads which concern me lemsip.

I'm surprised GNHQ has not acted swiftly to delete them.

I think the most caring and respectful thing would be if threads like this didn't exist.

I've asked if some of the other threads with uncalled for nasty posts be removed.

I think it would be better if they were deleted in light of this news but GNHQ must not agree as they are still there.

There cannot be many of us whose lives have not been changed by cancer, most of us have great empathy with what they are going through.

This is a family coping with even more devastating news
I feel quite ashamed to belong to a forum which thinks those threads should remain up.

It wasn't the time to be making snide and spurious suggestions as to the reasons for Catherine's absence when she'd already begged for privacy. The only difference now is your embarrassment.

I’m not embarrassed. I didn’t make conspiracy posts and my desire for Catherine to get well, be given privacy and properly protected by her team hasn’t changed.
