"You are not alone"
Brave words from a courageous and caring young woman thinking of all those in her situation.
I am reminded of Queen Elizabeth's message to the country during Covid "We will meet again".

Kate1949 Fri 22-Mar-24 22:34:12

Sending you and your daughter good wishes Calipso and to all going through this horrible disease, including my own husband, thankfully in remission (so far).

Rosie51 Fri 22-Mar-24 22:32:49

Calipso very best wishes for your daughter's recovery from the chemo and a clean bill of health.

Nightsky2 Fri 22-Mar-24 22:28:49

What very sad news. I wish her a speedy recovery.

Calipso I wish your daughter well and a full recovery.

Me too.

Thank you everyone for your kindness and understanding. Tonight has been one of those times when you hold everything together for so long and then something comes along and trips your fuse. The anger I feel at all the media intrusion and speculation is, in part a head of steam of my own personal rage at what the illness and the treatment takes away.

I was so shocked and sad at this news. I wish her well with all my heart.
The royal family are certainly going through a lot lately. Here's hoping that she, and the King, make good recoveries.

Thankyou Henetha you said exactly what I was thinking. She’s the same age as my daughter …

Thinking of everyone going through a difficult time flowers

So very shocked to see this pop up on my newsfeed just before 6pm. I wish all the family the very best for the future. I just hope the press will just leave them alone now.

LucyLocket55 Fri 22-Mar-24 22:01:39

Just wishing that brave women all the very best during her treatment. She is fortunate to have supportive parents, and in law parents and especially William.

Calipso I understand your feelings as my dd too was in a similar situation. The aggressive diagnosis was chilling and the lengthy chemo was hard to bear.
Wishing your daughter well and hope having completed her chemo she gets through this, back to good health. flowers

I have just been diagnosed with a rare form of blood cancer, it has been there for some time undiscovered .It caused me to have a near fatal pulmonary embolism 18 months ago.I have been on blood thinning tablets since then but it was on a recent blood test when suspicious results show up.
I had a bone marrow biopsy a week ago now waiting for results before any treatment can start.
I know how she feels especially about telling her ffamily.I am twice her age but still it has been hard or my now grown up children and grandchildren.I feel my great grandchildren are too young yet.
I am no lover of the royal family, but now I know we are all human beings and they have two members with cancer. It is no respecter of class.
I am in this with you Kate.I was luckier than you, I am much older, you had your whole lie ahead of you and now this.

Calipso🙏💐

The feeding frenzy in the press and on social media has been disgusting and I hope people will now leave her and her family alone.

It was very brave of her to make that statement and in such a calm and dignified manner, but she really shouldn’t have had to.

merlotgran Fri 22-Mar-24 21:46:23

I wish your daughter the very best, Calipso.

Susan56 Fri 22-Mar-24 21:46:14

Calipso wishing your daughter a full recovery💐

Calipso - thinking of you and your daughter - hope she makes a full recovery flowers

Callistemon21 Fri 22-Mar-24 21:35:10

Calipso I wish your daughter well and a full recovery.

Calipso Fri 22-Mar-24 21:31:48

Absolutely agree Callistemon
The endless prurient speculation is in such sharp contrast to the dignified statement from the Princess of Wales. It has affected me in a very strange way this evening as my own daughter of a similar age has just finished a punishing course of chemotherapy for an aggressive cancer. Her prognosis is guardedly optimistic but life will never be quite the same again.

Redhead56 Fri 22-Mar-24 21:31:25

It's a devistating diagnosis for anyone to be told they have cancer.
I hope the hounding stops and the family is left alone at this stressful time.
I was sad when I watched the news. What a shock it must have been after major surgery. I hope the Princess of Wales makes a full recovery.

Galaxy Fri 22-Mar-24 21:29:23

I am afraid you cant control that. It's just not possible. I think the royal family is completely unsuited to a modern rolling news, social media society.

lemsip Fri 22-Mar-24 21:24:50

Summerlove

Of course they were. The family come first.

However, let’s not pretend this is not a business with every resource imaginable. It should’ve been handled in a much better way. The palace/ PR really let Catherine down. They are the reason there is so much scrutiny.

It’s not a criticism of Catherine to say so.

Now is not the time

CoolCoco Fri 22-Mar-24 21:21:35

Many on here know the fear and anxiety that a family goes through when they learn of the cancer diagnosis of a loved one. One of my DDs had BC 3 years ago and fortunately is now cancer free but the anxiety will always be with us. I just wish the press/ broadcasters wouldn’t endlessly repeat the same old things and speculate on and on. She’s made the statement. We wish her well and will leave her to get on with it privately. That’s all that needs to be said - why did they need to talk about it for 30 minutes or more on the news?

. That's all that needs to be said.

Callistemon21 Fri 22-Mar-24 21:19:58

That's the BBC.
They really need to pull their heads in.

Mollygo Fri 22-Mar-24 21:16:08

So sorry to hear this but what a brave step to take to try and quell the hounding and speculation that has gone on. Will it change anything?
Well the first question in the 6 o’clock news was something like “What else are we not being told?”
So no, that’s one source that won’t let it alone.
